Software Development toolKit (SDK)

it contains:
1.the java runtime enviroment(JRE) which is needed to run a java application
2.some tutorials about java language
3.the utilities to compile, debug, run your program
4.open sources(code) for better understanding of the classes

it's not the lateset one, however, it's not out of date. Java changed it's name form Java 2 to Java 5 directly.(ver1.42 is called Java 2, ver.1.50-->Java 5)

Java SDK allows you to run Java Applications on the web.
