hi
earlier i phrased my question wrong so here i go:
what is closer in terms of family to someone their..
a) godchild (girl)
b) 2nd cousin (girl)
both would be about the same age but im wondering in terms of blood/love who would be higher up on the family/close friend scale?

as far as blood goes...the 2nd cousin...the godchild is not blood related...if blood is not in question, the godchild...they are supposed to be just like the godparents' child

A godchild is not necessarily related by blood at all, no matter how far back you may go. Some godparents are related, but many, if not most, are not.
A second cousin at least has a common blood relation somewhere along the line.

Legally there is no relationship between Godparents ad Godchildren. It´s a religious bond, although some people take very seriously the inherent responsibility.
So, I would say a cousin (even a 2nd cousin) is family and a god child is not. Even if you are closer to the second.
