The very best advice I can give you is, find a good bible teaching church and get into an organized bible study with other believers. I have done this for ten years now....and I can't believe the difference in my life, and how much more I can retain about scripture. May God give you your heart's desire for seeking Him!

I don't think memorizing it is as important as understanding. It does you no good to quote scripture if you do not understand what you are quoting. Attend Sunday School and church on a regular basis, and this will help a lot. you may also want to purchase a daily devotional book and take some time out of your day to study the bible.

Ask yourself this question.

Why do I want to memorize the Bible?

Now really what good would it do you to have all the words contained in the Word at your finger tips so to speak and not have the knowledge and wisdom along with the understanding that God would like you to have.

I'm over 50 now and have been reading the Bible almost my entire life. Do I know all the words contained in the Book? No. Nor do I want to know them all.

Ever heard this in song by the group the Beatles. All you need is Love. God is LOVE.

When you want to be pleasing to God, He will come alive in His Word. The Bible will no longer be words in a book but the Living Word of God. Something more perilous than gold or silver or anything that man puts value in. A living fountain of life.

So, my answer to you is this. First seek to be perfect in the sight of God the Father. Then invite His Word Jesus Christ into your life. Then this is where the miracle of life begins. He, God sends to you His Holy Spirit to comfort you in words and wisdom and love and understanding. Everything is now seen through new eyes and heard with new ears. Everything is become new.

That's my answer to you. The Word is alive and is right for you when it right with God. He, God will recall to mind all the words He wishes you to know when its the right time for Him.><>

Here's some more advice that's not negative or degrading, & not cut and pasted.

Memorization is simple enough. Choose the scripture you want to memorize & write it 100 times (this works best for individual verses). Once you can write it from memory, write it on an index card & place the card in a conspicuous place (bathroom mirror, dashboard, etc.). Study the card for a week before you move on to your next memory verse.

This works well for spelling words & foreign laguages too.

Enjoy!

there is a on-line free down-loadable bible that you can put on your computer or even notebook computer. it has many bible reference books as well as many different versions and of the bible in many languages. all free. wont;t take allot of space either. it has a cool search engine to help find a scripture faster or even just a word that you are looking for that isn't in the back reference part of most bibles. i use it often. it works with your word pad and had a bible study part where you can keep fast notes for later. also there is a small forum chat room that has bible study and such that isn't crowded or allow people to be hateful. check it out.

I don't mean to sound rude, but you need to read it, read it again, re read it. Just keep reading it over and over. You have to keep it open for daily reading to know God. The way I do it. I read it from front to back, and then repeat the process. Some like to dwell in one are or the other. The bible is not meant to be read like a novel. Each time you read it you will pick up new things you didn't catch the 1st time. Christian radio is good too.

Though you were to memorize the entire Bible, it would do you no good at all unless you first have the Spirit of Truth teaching you to understand it. Look first for the Spirit, then you will be able to properly digest the words you read.
