Hi. Following is the part of the news article.

William Leo Smith, then a 20-year-old college student, woke up on the floor of the pet shop where he worked, blinking up at a ring of worried faces and feeling as if he’d been stabbed in the hand.

It says " blinking up at a ring of worried faces " What does it mean?

I looked up a dictionary to find out the meaning of "ring" but I failed.

Plz help me out~

What I get out of it is this: He was blinking up at a ring of worried faces................he was blinking (looking) up
at a ring (people standing around him ) of worried faces.

the ring of worried faces would be...a circle of people standing around him looking worried.

Hope this helps and I didn't confuss you more....
Good Luck and God Bless

the ring of worried faces means that he woke up with people standing in a circle around him looking down at him laying on the floor.

It means he was looking at the circle of people. In other words, he woke up, surrounded by people, and looked up at them, blinking his eyes.

it just means people were standing in a circle around him, and he was blinking at them because he was confused (or something) and wasn't doing anything wlse but blinking.
