Because they are tempted by the things of the world and the devil. They see what other people have and they covet it, but what they do not understand they do not know how they receive what they have. Having faith means that you have to follow God and that means you do not do the things of the world and alot of people do not want to restrict themselves or police themselves.

God’s Love Is Holy
When some people hear that God’s love is self-giving, sacrificial, unconditional, eternal, and infinite, they get the idea that it is merely soft, sloppy sentimentality, that God is an indulgent Father who gives us everything we want and conveniently turns His head the other way when we sin. But that is not the case. Everything God does is done in the totality of His being, so His love must always be consistent with His other attributes. Since God is holy, then His love must be a holy love that encourages holiness in those loved. The evidence is overwhelming! For example, in the same context in which Paul explains that we in love were predestined unto the adoption of sons, he states God’s purpose for choosing us. It is “that we should be holy and without blame before Him” (Ephesians 1:4). Love and obedience consistently go together in Scripture: “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3; cf. also John 14:15; 15:10).

You should notice by now, people like to believe only what they see, when in fact they are truly blind. God gave the world the freedom of choice. But then again, you ask yourself: if God knows everything, how can we truly have freedom to believe or not? Well it's simple: There's a dog and you are the master. You put down dog food and a book next to eachother. What item does the dog go for? the dog food of course. The dog had a choice yet the master knew what his choice would be. That is how it is for us. God is the master and we are the dogs. We're put into much higher standards of course.
For your question: God wants unconditional love from us. He wants us to choose him. That's the kind of love that he wants. I hope this has answered your question.

Sorry... some people know how to THINK rationally... and, thus, they find the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of a tribe of ignorant Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders, declared to represent some kind of cosmic 'TRUTH', to be unworthy of 'belief. A universe in which all that exists are the earth and heaven, a solid 'firmament' structure (the sky) separating the earth from heaven (terrarium earth), talking snakes (with legs) and donkeys, a shepherd staff that turns into an asp, demons chased out of people and into pigs, friendly spirits, evil spirits, walking on water, multiplying loaves and fishes, food falling from the sky, conception by a ghost, people raised from the dead, the sun stopping in its tracks, parting seas, people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the 'other side' of the sky), world-wide flood that drowned the earth to a depth of 40 feet above the tallest mountain, creating people from a dust bunny and a rib, a magical tree of knowledge, god speaking from a burning bush... and ritual cannibalism, by eating god in the form of a cracker... are just too stupid to give any credence to.

Because the Truth is so easily misbelieved. So much so that even Christians, upon hearing how simple the Truth is, prefer to believe the complexities of dogma and of doctrine.

As long as free will exist there will always be differences of opinion. Just because we believe that Christ is the Messiah doesn't mean everyone will. God wants us to accept him on our own. Not to mention it doesn't help when there are so many Christians who are overzealous. When a person feels that you are attacking them they respond to what you have to say in a negative manner. It's easier to reach others with love than by making them feel that every time they are in your presence you are trying to force your religion on them.

For one thing, religion is different from science. In science, you can prove unquestionably the truth of something to somebody, even if it takes days, or even years. In religion, however, you will have a difficult time even convincing others that you believe what you believe. For that's what happened when I tried to persuade (foolishly, I confess) someone to see things my way.

What is the truth? Is it something that your priest/church tells you to believe in? Everyone has their own personal truth and that should be good enough for you, but instead you must force your own truth down their throats.

Your truth is not my truth.
The things that you are panicked about don't frighten me at all. Can you understand that? I don't see a threat in not believing the things you do. In fact, I see it as a direct path to fairytale-land.
I don't mean to be putting you and your belief down. I am simply trying to explain. Please learn to let others find their own way. They will anyway.

You are 14 yrs old. You don't have a clue. Why don't you read the bible and try to make decisions based upon your convictions and quit spouting the views and words of others.
It shows your ignorance to God's words when you ask these kind of questions.
I know your heart is in the right place but get your mind there too.
