I tried group exercise but I am too uncoordinated. My school offers it for $35 an hour and that is really steep for me, but I might try 5 or so sessions to learn how to excercise. What do you think?

(My goal is to get muscle tone without being too muscular. I am a 22 year old woman that is mildly underweight).

I am not underweight on purpose...I am doing this to gain a little weight and muscle.

Personal training is a good idea (coming from one lol) and personal instruction is always the best. A trainer can set up a program for you according to what you need, go for it!
The cost is different in every area of the country. Sometimes your local YMCA will have training reasonable. Ask your trainer to set you up with something basic and not too complicated, as it can be overwhelming if they give you too much to do. Ask for a couple of exercises for each muscle group and that's all to start. They should go thru it with you each time you see them. That's good that your school offers it.
I wouldn't worry about getting too muscular, this takes hours a day in the gym to bulk up. Have fun with it!

My gym is running some "special" at $50 an hour if you buy 20 sessions. You can do the math and see that = $1,000!

They also do some small groups, which you might want to try. It's 2-3 people basically sharing one personal trainer, so they get the benefit but split the expense.

You should probably take advantage of the offer through your school because personal trainers usually charge upwards of $50 per half hour or hour.

Please dont be underweight.

You can work out and be toned, but underweight is the grossest thing a woman can be in my opinion.

Eat healthy and exercise on a moderate level.
