More than likely she has an abscess from a cat fight. If it's not abscessed now it will be soon. Take her to the vet for sure. Also she needs to be tested for feline leukemia and fiv and vaccinated for leukemia if negative and for sure vaccinated for rabies. I find it hard to believe a vet didn't vaccinate her. It's not only needed it's the law. ALL pets MUST be vaccinated for rabies. Regardless of whether they go outside or not. She is most likely running a temperature now so the vet won't want to vaccinate her. Being that your husband was bitten by this cat the cat needs to be in quarantine for ten days. This can be at the vet (depending upon your county) or at animal control. If by some slim chance she has been bitten by a rabid fox, coon, other cat, etc.. then you need to know this right away. Otherwise your husband needs to start getting the shots. It's much easier to quarantine the cat then get the shots. They aren't given in the stomach like some believe but they still aren't any fun for sure. Rabies KILLS once symptoms appear. Please take this very seriously. And I suggest you go to a different vet.

I would take her to the vet. Any type of bite wound could abcess and rupture causing a BIG stiinky mess. If they can catch it before it becomes too infected it would be best for all. If in fact it is not a bite would and she has broken something then she definitely needs to be seen by your vet. and just because she doesn't go outside at night is NO reason NOT to vaccinate for rabies( as far as I know it is required by law to vaccinate for rabies)

"Yes, she needs to go to the vet.
Probably a new one, since yours isn't aware that viruses come out in the day time too. "
LOL I agree, try to remember that just like in human medicine, there are different qualities of vet med out there. This is definitely not acceptable logic. Not only is it necessary for your cats health, its most likely required by law. Besides rabies, if your cat goes outside anytime, its at huge risk for other preventable diseases like distemper and leukemia. The shots are much cheaper than the treatment, and the treatment only prolongs life, does not cure. I agree that its probably an abcess, not uncomman in outdoor cats, and treatable.

She more then likely was bitten probably by another cat. Its probably abccessed and she needs a antibiotic. yes you need to take your cat to a vet. Shes obviously sick. Any cat that steps outside needs to have a rabies shot also. I wouldn't worry about the rabies so much but a abccess is probably what the problem is. She bit because it hurts to be touched. And now vomitng she is getting iller. Vets ASAP!

Any change in a cat's behavior -- hiding, tender parts to her body so she behaves differently with her caregivers -- is VERY serious. You have let this go on for two days and you need to get her to a vet tomorrow morning.
She has not been just scared by an encounter outside, she has been injured and needs to be examined and treated.

Well, you should always vaccinate your pets for their own health and safety, whether they go outside or not, but that wasn't your question. I would say take her to the vet. If you can't tell what's going on with her, espceially if she's vomiting, then she really needs to be seen. And while you're there, get the vaccinations. You don't want anything to happen to your pet, right?

Please have a vet check outyour cat.
When a cat is sick or injured they tend to hide. The fact that she bit your husband is proof that she is in pain.
So obviously she is injured. Take her to a vet, she might develop an infection.
First, dont panic!
Chances are she was bitten by another cat that does'nt have rabies.
She needs to be vaccinated tough, there are numerous feline deseases that are not rabies.
Please, please bring her to the vet, she might have to go on antibiotics ASAP.
Good luck!

I cannot believe you are asking us. You should have beelined to the vet before now, girlfriend...I hope your husband will be ok. I also cannot believe that your VET opted not to vaccinate for rabies....that is ridiculous. See another vet.

She needs to go soon with her vomiting and hiding. Cats hide when they are sick and they are usually very sick when they do this. You need to find out what is going on with her. There could be something wrong inside that you can't see.
