Actually,they didn't try to train the bats to drop bombs.They experimented with the idea that if they could strap a fire bomb to a bat and set the bomb to detonate at a certain time,the bats would roost in the eaves and attics of buildings.When the bombs detonated they would create a firestorm that would destroy the city.The idea was to use this on Tokyo where most buildings (at the time) were made of wood,bamboo and paper.
