My friend have left Australia permanently and have gone to China. Can i recover the amount from him through australian courts?

probably not even if you knew his present address
just hope he stays there and you'll be rid of him

You may be able to file and get a judgement against him...but good luck collecting.
Unless he owns property or maintains bank accounts in Australia, I think you are out of luck.
Never loan more than you can afford to LOSE!

You can get the courts to apply a judgment, but... you can't necessarily force the payment. This is a tough battle. But to start, go to the judiciary and file the paperwork and get the ball rolling.
