GO ON STRIKE!!!! If it gets too bad, go stay at a hotel or a friends. Make a point or they will always be slobs. Start by listing your demands to the 4,6 and 9 year olds. List what you would like for them to do. Start by getting them to clean their rooms or for the 4 year old, putting his/her toys away. For the 6, year old add one extra chore. For the 9 year old add two chores. Show the kids how to do things. They will learn if you teach them. The 36 and 38 year old should just know better. Good luck. Get organized, it really helps. Chart on the fridge with all the chores with names beside each chore. That is what we do in our house. It works for the most part.

First of remember you are the parent. Set an example and then set the rules. Even the four year old is old enough to know to clean up after them self. Leaving things out or not helping clean up should result in loss of privileges.

Deal with the kids first, they will be easiest. Tell the >9 year olds that they want to look good infront of parents, or try to make a game, never repremand. Tell then if they clean their dish they can have a cookie. "Remind" the older folkes they left their plates behind. Never make them think you are taking control. Say, "My hands are full, could you grab the cup b/c im getting the plates?" ask for help, if they qare not men, you have a good chance they will help you.

first tell them that you will not be picking up after them any more.them the older ones can start to help around the place by picking there stuff up. if not you hire a person to come in and clean house and put everything they have in the gargabe.i did that to my family and now I don`t say anything I start picking up the phone ask for the cleaning lady, wow they move really fast.

Go on strike. If they say they forgot to do things I think you can have a memory lapse when it comes to laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. And if you find something on the floor that's not put away - throw it in the trash. My son learned really fast that I wasn't kidding!!
Good luck - hang tight!

Make organization fun. Make cleaning the house a family event and a game with prizes.

Get everyone invovled in the cleaning up process. Teach your children now while they're young to put away what they get out when they're done playing with it. Set a good example yourself, and get your spouse to help also.
