I have a 1989 BMW. My batery went dead and my dad recharged it with a battery charger. Now my radio won't work. The screen says "CODE". Sum of the buttons beep when i push on them but they don't always. Whats wrong and how can i fix it? PLEASE HELP!!!!!! you have no idea how greatful i will be!!!

Take it to a dealer and they can look up the code. But whatever you do, do NOT sit there mashing buttons! Once you've entered an invalid code 3 or 4 times, it will lock out for 24 hours and even the correct code won't work. Most dealers should not charge for this service.

It sounds like an anti-theft device. Contact a BMW dealer for the code.

You have to reset the codes. The instructions should be in the owners manual or contact a BMW dealer to get them!

Mine does the same thing when the battery is disconnected. You need to enter a security code.

May just need to be reset... there should be a pinhole where you can press a button to do such.

just buy a new radio and along with it how about a new car!
