If you've read the Bible you should know that man was created on the 6th day. The Bible clearly makes mention of what took place in the 5 days preceding man's existence. What "millions" of years are you talking about? Just read Genesis chapter 1... and then read the rest of the Bible, repent of your sins (that means to appologize for them and forsake them), and put your trust in the Savior Jesus Christ.

If you believe that the Bible explains the literal beginning of the universe, there are two differing theories to account for the Earth's age. 1: It isn't old. Many people who follow the Bible's teachings believe that the Earth is between six and ten thousand years old, using the geneologies of various biblical figures found in the Bible. 2: The Gap Theory. In Genesis 1:2, the Earth is described as formless, dark and empty, but existing. In verse three, it goes on to describe God creating light, day, night, etc. Some people argue that verse two indicates a great span of time between the creation of the Earth and it's developement into what we see today.

Maybe because it is not a Geology textbook... and should NEVER be confused with one.
Nothing in the Bible should be construed to give the age of the earth. Yomim (days in Hebrew) CAN mean 24 hours or many years. Simply, it is nonspecific periods of time.
Peter tells us "Dear friends, here is one thing you must not forget. With the Lord a day is like a thousand years. And a thousand years are like a day." (2Pe 3:8) In other words, God created time rather than being bound by it. Time exists because electrons orbit nuclei. If they didn't there would be no time. Once the universe is destroyed, there will be nothing which measures time and time itself will no longer exist. Time is only a factor in the physical realm, the spirit realm has no use for it.
These things together mean that any attempt at dating the earth based on scripture is futile.
Chris K flunked baby physics. Carbon dating is not about a build-up of carbon, but the ratio of Carbon 12 and Carbon 14. It is accurate, quite accurate, for dates up to 40,000 to 50,000 years. Beyond that time, it is useless and has nothing to do with the age-of-the-earth question.

According to the Bible, the world is less than 10 thousand years old. I know it sounds ridiculous but consider this: The scientific method for determining dates in the past is by using carbon dating. Carbon dating is measuring how much carbon build up there is in a certain period of time. This is how they determine the millions of years. However, carbon dating is not accurate. The carbon build-up data chart was based off of only about 50 years. They used that research and expanded it to determine millions of years into the past. Which is obviously very poor science. The build-up of carbon over a period of time can be altered by something as simple as a volcanic eruption, or in the Bible, the flood. So carbon dating is way off. Only way carbon dating would be accurate is if carbon were to be distributed completely evenly over millions of years. The Bible not only is a religious doctrine, it's also a historical manuscript. The scriptures were written during the times these things truly occured. By the way, dinosaurs are also mentioned in the Bible.

***What does the Bible not mention the millions of years before man's existence? ***
The folk that wrote the Bible knew very little about such things. No worry the present day adherents are moving to correct this situation.
ahahahah
This is really pitiful and hilarious at the same time. Some of the torturous explanations of
days and time lines are pathetic.
May the God Lord have mercy on us all.

Because according to the bible there weren't billions of years before the existence of man....there were 5 days.... man was made on the 6th day the universe existed.
You're mixing up modern science with religion, the two aren't compatible.
Bible: 5 days before man was made
Science: about 14 billion years

If you mean "why" then let me tell you that it does: Let me tell you how, and go and see for yourself and see if what I have said is true.
For you must understand what happened in the beginning. Remember the earth was void and without form. The first thing the LORD did was to create Light, then He seperated the Light from the Darkness... Now in order for H.I.M. to do that, that mass of water had to turn; wherefore, ALL of the waters, being one had turned... then if you recall, the next thing the LORD did was to devide the waters from the waters, and placed a firmament amidst the waters to keep them seperate... and He called the firmament heaven. But the firmament is what made all the waters which had been devided round... now remember, the first mass of water had already been turning, and science tells us, that in space, any thing set in motion would continue in that motion until a greater force opposes it. Now (bear with me as I explain this), at that point, the Spirit of God was emmence, or eternal... pretty much everywhere, and when those devided waters were devided, they continued to spin as well as travel outward from the center (as science has stated and proven). And as these masses of waters spun, many days passed. Now imagine this if you will. If you have ever spun a jacks-stone, or a spinning top...that stone or top spun for only several seconds in your eyes, but it may have spun, for example, a hundred times or more. Now if you lived on the surface of that jacks-stone or top, every complete revolution would represent a full day (on that surface) and if it spun a hundred times, a hundred days would have gone by... even though to you (regularly) it only spun for a few seconds.
Well liken that example to the Spirit of God, as opposed to the earth here and the planets. And realize that the first part of the bible was written by Moses, inspired by God, who taught him world history within the time Moses spent on the mountain top at Sanai... remember he was there for 40 days... and it didn't take 40 days for God to give Moses ten commandments; for not only did he get the ten commandments, but he also got The Law (The Covenant) as well as our History.
But that time is there; many just miss the fact that there are two different time measurements covered there.

The Bible isnt time specific. Even if it were, God couldve created the earth with the appearance of age as he did with Adam and Eve. So it would look like we've been through millions of years when it could only be in the thousands.
Ill tell you what though, follow Jesus, and once you are in Gods presence; you will know everything youve ever wanted to know!

Forgive me if I'm wrong, lots of people say science and the bible contridict each other. From the way I understand the bible the times are diffrent, like one week is actually seven years instead of days so I'm figuring maybe that has something to do with it. I'm not sure though that is a tough question could has been known to cause contrversy.

Good point! I would have love to read about the so-called "God" and his musings on the Nothingness prior to creation. Much more interesting than all the human things in the bible. You'd think the Almighty, All-knowing God would have known humans would benefit from this reading. I guess the dudes who made up the bible and called it the word of God didn't have that great of an imagination after all.
