God did. But if you mean you specifically ordered the cruxification of Jesus Christ, that would be none other than Pilate. Pilate did not want to, he tried his best to convince the crowd that Jesus was innocent, but the Jewish population insisted that he was committing a crime by defying and rewriting Jewish laws and customs. So Pilate, to prevent a riot and an uprise, he ordered his cruxification. But I don't think you can really point fingers at anyone. The Jews had their reasons for wanting to cruxify Jesus Christ. He did defy Jewish law and basically rewrote it. The only way that his actions could have been justified would be if he truly was the Messiah. If Jesus is the messiah, he would have the authority to do what he did. I believe that Jesus is the messiah because fulfilled every prophecy that the messiah was said to fulfill. So once again, no one is really to blame. It was all planned by God to happen the way it did.

Pontius Pilate ordered the scourging. He did this in hopes of appeasing the Sadducees, who wanted Jesus put to death. That is, Pilate was throwing them a bone and hoping that they would be satisfied with that punishment.

They weren't satisfied. They wanted capital punishment. Pilate was again hoping that the people would choose Jesus to be released, but the people chose Barrabas. So Pilate ordered the execution, not because he found Jesus guilty--he didn't--but because he was a politician and followed the popular vote so as not to have trouble in his outpost.

He was a politician, sent to an outpost that was tedious and unglamorous to him. He was always hoping for a better appointment. Pilate did not like to get involved in the religious disputes of the "natives." This one he could not avoid, though. There was too much pressure on him.

So while Pilate did the formal ordering, the Sadducees pressured Pilate.

This is neither to assign nor remove blame. It is just the way it went down.

It was Pilate, the Roman governor...who was pressured by the Jewish religious leaders. I have always found Pilate to be an interesting character in the bible. There are several verses that show he tried to release Jesus, and consistently found nothing criminal about him. Another interesting verse, Pilate knew the Jews had delivered Jesus to him "out of envy".

They got Pilate right between the eyes when they said if he didn't condemn Jesus, Pilate was "no friend of Ceasar". That was intimidating and threatening and he finally gave in.

Maybe it was Pontius Pilate. Maybe it was the Jews. Maybe His Father gave Him the choice, so He could do whatever it took to save our sinning souls. And maybe you and I ordered Him to be tortured and killed, because it is our sinning souls, among all the others, that He suffered and died for. God Bless us all.

Nobody ordered Him. Hebrews said he had to die like that because that was how things were done on the Earth. God
told Him ahead of time what he had to do to make it right. And
Christ accepted it.

Pontius Pilate...the infamous Roman-appointed governor, who said "I wash my hands of it" meaning that if he had Jesus killed the "blood" of Jesus would be on his hands...so to say that you are "washing your hands" of a situation means to completely walk away from it.
