When I was pregnant and retained a lot of water I would eat watermelon everyday and it would make me lose (pee) the excess water.

It's always a good idea to ask why you're retaining it? Salt if a big culprit. If you use salt, get some imitation salt. The internet has alot of good sources, go to your search engine and look up "water retention" and you'll find some good articles and what to do about it.

Sounds crazy, but drink more water. You naturally retain more water when you are dehydrated, thus the water retention. Also stay away from salty foods for a while.

To rid yourself of water retention you might want to use a diretic. One over the counter product is named Aqua Ban,but there are also natural diretics such as fish, coffee and tea. Just be careful losing too much water from your body can rob you of necessary Potassium making you feel weak and shaky. So replenish your Potassium with Grape juice,or a bananas. If it starts to effect your blood pressure you may want to talk with your doctor and possibly have prescibed HCTZ ( Hydrochlorozide)

Follow a low salt diet. If you feel like it's a real problem, you may want to see a doctor as excess fluid retention/edema can be linked to underlying health problems.

Sounds silly but drinking plenty of water will help the body expel excess fluid...it will also help flush toxins from the body. Try to avoid large amounts of sodium and preservatives too. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, sounds hard but if you keep a bottle of water with you during the day it is do-able, really!

Just try it for a couple of days and you may notice a difference.
Go ahead...wet your whistle...

I get water built up every time I have salt, I spoke w/a nurse, and she told me to eat pickles to counter act the salt. My body hasn't expanded since.
