you know how dogs go when they are thurtsty.
the open there mouth and stick there tounge out.
my dog does that all the time and he does not run.
why?

Yes, it is regulating body temp, however it also depends on the dog. Brachiocephalics (pugs, etc) which are dogs with very short snouts do this more often as the have a much harder time with temp regulation due to less area for heat exchange. So, for these types of dogs, they may do more often than a long snout dog such as a lab.

The dog is HOT and maybe Thirsty, but definitely HOT! It is summer here in The United States and we get very hot, so our animals suffer, Maybe it is hot in your country also?
So your
animals will pant from heat stress also!

I think some dogs just do that. Kind of like people have habits,like sleeping with their mouth open or something like that. That's your dogs habit.

It's not a thirst thing. That's how they cool off. Dogs do it all the time because they don't sweat like humans do.

it might be that he is hot during the summer beacuse my dog does that during the summer after he just woke up and the vet said that that was normal beacuse they can not sweat so their mouth mostly realeases the hotness so it's probly normal just call your vet to make sure he's ok because i no its different with different breeds

He is not thirsty. He is panting to remove excess heat. Its like sweating through your mouth.

Your dog is panting because that is how dogs regulate their body temperature. We sweat and have no fur. They pant and have fur.

He's not always thirsty, they pant to cool there bodies, dogs do not sweat. It's their way of cooling off.
