how can anyone claim that most undocumented immigrants are in welfare if the number ( the number of welfare recipients ) has drop so drasticaly unlike their numbers ( the number of people whit out documents ) ???

i do know that most of them ( undocumented ) would not ask the goverment for help :
one ....... because they are afraid
two ....... because they think that would ban them in case of an anmesty .

They can't even get welfare here.All adults have to have a picture Id everyone has to have a ss# even the babies

Ok I work with 20 or so mexicans, and I can tell you EVERY ONE is on welfare of some sort. Almost all have their kids on free health insurance (you can get it for kids for free in Cali if you make under a certain amount, and when you have 7 kids, it's not hard, you can make 5oK and still qualify). Or they have foodstamps (easy to get), or their pregnant breeders have wic, or housing assistance, or whatever.

I read somewhere that a full 30% of illegals are on FULL public assistance, i.e., they work for undocumented cash or NOT AT ALL!!

I would like to see where it says welfare recips are down 60%, everything I have seen has it booming upward...

They received it through their children or through emergency service. I know I worked for health benefits. I had a list of help they can qualify for. They do get extra points on forms for being foreigners. Many do fit the income requirements.
Has it dropped-no-our benefits are running low and many States had to borrow from others. These are facts.
State Services are abused by many-not just Illegal Aliens. But the mass of people coming in has caused more problems.
I know that is not the answer you want but those are the facts. Unless people get to the core of problems I am afraid others will not be able to stay much longer. No matter what their reasons for coming in.
Health is probably one of the biggest cost in services used. Many do not agree but I feel National Health is the only answer. And yes that would raise taxes. Schools are another-again taxes.
So if you want more to come or stay-your demonstrations should be on answers to take care of the problems.

Welfare has dropped because welfare recepients are forcefully removed from the program. Increases ended long before that. This fact...that welfare rolls have decreased, really has nothing to do with immigrants, illegals, or poverty. It is simply government policy first brought up by right wing republicans and instituted by democrats to appeal to conservative voters. Just about every popularly held belief about welfare is a myth. All you have to do is enter welfare myths, welfare reform, etc in a search engine to learn the real facts. However, don't believe outdated racial stats. They use old outdated stats on many web sites to hold on to the poor racial minority belief system.
The average welfare recepient USED TO BE an single white mother with the children she had after her divorce (1 or 2 usually). She would get off welfare within 2 years either because she got a job or remarried. Back then, welfare wasn't cut off instantly when she got her job. It was taken gradually when her income was sufficient according to their rules. She could be supplemented for awhile, but most women opted not to.
Now, welfare reform has destroyed this safety net. White women rarely get welfare and they are cut off without mercy. In my area, a half dozen women on mimimum wage would have to share a house and expenses in order to live. RIght winged men and politicians won't help us because they believe our only option is marriage and subservience to them. Increasing minimum wage would decrease their wallet size, so we rarely get that.
So now, without welfare, the poorest of the poor are still single white women and their children. White people make up half of all the poor in this country, and those are the ones that are counted. All we can get is free medical care from the clinic or emergency room in an emergency. 80% of the people in there are non-white, and depending on which clininc, most are immigrants. For example, in the Hayward clinic, most are spanish speaking Mexicans. In the Oakland clinics we don't get to go in the order we came in. The ESLs get to go in first. The Asian doctors take the Asians in and the Hispanic doctors take the hispanics in. Then the blacks. Then last the older whites. If the morning block takes too long, the old white people have to wait for the afternoon appointment block. Yes that is reality and poverty.
We wait for Medi-Cal and SSI for years and rarely get it. The welfare most immigrants get in disproportionate numbers, especially in my state, is Medi-Cal and SSI. The very thing being routinely denied to the native born.
Whether they are legal are not doesn't change the fact that I have to compete with them for the scraps of my society--when I should at the very least get first crack at those scraps for being a native born citizen.
