Are you having 1 bad day, or have you been having bad days for a long time?

If just 1 day, hey, it's over, a brand new day, a brand new start, especially since you have no back log. Look forward, not back.

If series of bad days, then there could be a few things:
1 Do you tend to judge yourself too harshly?
What happens if you do have a backlog once in a while, do you feel bad? Angry? You can't control everything around you, so sometimes your to-dos will be too long for a clean slate at the end of the day, so take it easy on yourself.
2 Do you want to always be in control?
This is related to above; do you feel that you need to be in control of everything around you? Nowadays, since most of us work together with people above, below, beside us, we cannot expect too much control over what we do.
3 Do you think that having a clean slate at the end of the day is a guarantee for having a good day? It is not. You may have done your work, but there obviously are other things that determine whether you consider your day good or bad.
4 Do you like what you are doing?
Even if you finish your tasks, you might be unhappy at what you are doing. May be it is time for a change; look around.

Cheer up!

Maybe what you do is not enough, even by clearing off everything today is still not enough. Maybe you gotta go the extra mile. I used to work for a very horrible employer, where I spend all my days updating my work time to time it was done as I wanted but he never appreciate it in fact he wasn't satisfied by it. Not until the day that I decided to resign, he was so speechless. Ever wonder where the main problem leads from? That is where you gotta start at. Then if you could just resolve the main issue to your problem, then you'll no longer experience any more bad days.

Better question is why do you judge yourself so harshly? Are you one of those people who make lists of things to do every day and then beat yourself up at night for not getting them all done? Life has to be lived and not just checked off a list. Enjoy yourself a little more and stop obsessing about getting everything done. Tomorrow is another day after all.

Are you trying to do to much in 1 day? Sometimes it is not meant for you to complete everything in 1 day and you have to be OK with yourself by not putting the stress on yourself for not completing everything. We can only do so much and then leave it for later. What will happen if you don't Finnish?

Well that's why! Tomorrow, put off everything for a day and enjoy yourself! If you don't treat yourself once in a while, then life is just a grind.

let go and do something fun.

this sounds more like a psychological question to which i would suggest: realize that no matter what you do today, there will always be more to do tomorrow.

the world will not end if you put it off and take some time for yourself.

p.s. if you are the person who operates the space shield that stops asteroids and/or intercontinental ballistic missles and do not have a replacement, then ignore my earlier advice to take the day off.

You're trying to hard. Plan to put some off until tomorrow - it's better for you health. Sometimes acheivers can cause undue stress by wanting too many things done at once. I know, I used to be like you. It caused uncurable illness - now I regret it.

Could it simply be that you're just having a bad day. Perhaps it has nothing to do with you doing anything wrong maybe its just that life happens and bad days appear with or without our permission. Don't become discouraged we all have them; basically just learn how to accept things for the way they are, accept yourself for who you are, and get on with the business of living.......It's all small stuff; don't sweat it; there's always tomorrow.......

That's why you are having a bad day...you're trying to do everything today which leaves no optimism and anticipation for what you may discover tomorrow.

***Why am I still having a bad day -although I try and do everything today and not put it off until tomorrow? ***

Stop trying to do everything today.
That's impossible to do.
Save some energy for tomorrow.
