I once cleaned a bunch of dog hair off an area rug using a dog brush! It worked great!

I found a little rubber looking brush at wal mart. It was in the isle that has the sponges and cleaners. It just a very simple little rubber looking brush and I really doubted it working but it works great on lint and pet hair. I use it all over the house. And best of all, it's CHEAP. It's only like 3.50

Best thing to get dog hair off furniture is a wet hand.
Really. I've even taken a wet wash cloth with me so I can keep wetting my hand.
Wet hand, rub hand across, remove hair to bag, wet hand, repeat. It takes a while, but it works better than anything else. I think I've fallen for every gimmick out there.
Save your money.

Try swifters or used bounce fabric sheets. Both catch pet hair.

I found that if its on furniture, if I dampen my hand (washcloth or cup of water available) then run my hand across the furniture, it comes up better than any fancy gadget.
