I have noticed how often Christians disagree with one another about the true path to heaven. Some insist the whole Bible is literally true, while others insist it must be interpreted. Some insist we should study the Bible alone, without guidance, while others insist on the need for guidance from church elders.

Is there some kind of conspiracy to drive non-christians mad? To insist on a narrow road to heaven on the one hand, while presenting the appearance that Christianity is all things to all people on the other?

Bottom Line: why do moderates ignore the existence of fundamentalists, while fundies ignore the existence of moderates? Those of us who are not Christians see both, and can only scratch our heads (or slam them on the desk) when we examples of such denial.

Not really a conspiracy. The so-called 'moderate' Christians enable the 'extremeists' (fundies) by failing to oppose them. Christian 'Dominionists' (Reconstructionalists, Theonomists) have largely usurped the local level political apparatus of the Republican Party, and are engaged in a sub rosa process to politically motivate moderate Christians under the false cover of religious issues such as morality and family values. The goal is nothing less than the takeover of all elective offices in the USA.

Their doctrine comes from the Bible, starting with the term 'dominion' at Genesis 1:28... “And God said unto them, [Adam and Eve] Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have DOMINION… over every living thing.” They interpret DOMINION as: “... a supremacy in determining and directing the actions of others or in governing politically, socially, or personally.”

They want to remake the USA as a theocracy... and they are succeeding.

Its most common form, Dominionism, represents one of the most extreme forms of Fundamentalist Christianity thought. Its followers, called Dominionists, are attempting to convert the laws of United States so that they match those of the Hebrew Scriptures. They intend to achieve this by using the freedom of religion in the US to train a generation of children via home-schooling and in private Christian religious schools. Later, their graduates will be charged with the responsibility of creating a new Bible-based political, religious and social order. One of the first tasks of this order will be to eliminate religious choice and freedom. Their eventual goal is to achieve the "Kingdom of God" in which much of the world is converted to Christianity. They feel that the power of God's word will bring about this conversion. No armed force or insurrection will be needed; in fact, they believe that there will be little opposition to their plan. People will willingly accept it. All that needs to be done is to properly explain it to them.

All religious organizations, congregations etc. other than strictly Fundamentalist Christianity would be suppressed. Nonconforming Evangelical, main line and liberal Christian religious institutions would no longer be allowed to hold services, organize, proselytize, etc. Society would revert to the laws and punishments of the Hebrew Scriptures. Any person who advocated or practiced other religious beliefs outside of their home would be tried for idolatry and executed. Blasphemy, adultery and homosexual behavior would be criminalized; those found guilty would also be executed. There are two conservative Christian pastors in Texas who have advocated the execution of all Wiccans. Ralph Reed, the executive director of the conservative public policy group the Christian Coalition has criticized Reconstructionism as "an authoritarian ideology that threatens the most basic civil liberties of a free and democratic society."

By failing to openly confront this insidious agenda, we have sown the seeds of our own destruction, while these religious wing-nuts are paving the way to Armageddon with gleeful anticipation.

There are many paths to God. I think it is arrogant to believe God only loves Christians and that Christians are the only good people. It is funny how many so-called Christians are so intolerant of others - even fellow Christians. Some even consider them damned. It's all a control game. Even Jesus had to work out all the issues and had doubts. Does it seem likely that such a God would want a bunch of automaton followers who could not think for themselves? Most of the "fundies" don't seem to believe in tolerance or in not judging others. What hypocrites. You might as well just laugh it all off.
I don't consider myself a Christian any more, even though I was baptized and confirmed as an Episcopalian. I am an agnostic, which means I believe in God (it is only a belief an not a "prove fact") though I don't believe we can know anything more for sure. We cannot prove if God exists or not. Everything else is just belief or intuition, or it is dishonesty, which is rather disturbing to me.
I think the Bible has a lot to offer people, if you are interested in developing your own spiritual path and learning about morals. I am also certain I might benefit from reading the Koran, the Upanishads and any other authentic religious scriptures.
It seems like you have a sense of humor about the Christians, and that's the most important part. Let's all scratch our heads in unison.

Christian Fundamentalist is an entire contradiction in words!! CHRISTIAN – A follower or believer in Jesus. FUNDAMENTALIST one that believes the Bible is extremely actual and could be observed precisely. subsequently they're followers of the bible and not Jesus making them non Christians!!! yet worse is to stay with it additionally makes them ideologists. IDEOLOGY an concept it is fake or held for the incorrect reasons yet is assumed with such conviction as to be irrefutable. So Christians have a loving and forgiving god and fundamentalist - nicely - in basic terms are no longer Christians!!!! native land secure practices is having to place further and further time and materials into monitoring christians who seek for to tear up the form, break democracy and foment a 2d civil warfare to place in a christian dictatorship!! A chilling warning has been issued to US police forces appropriate to the possibility of an improve in violent top wing and christian extremist communities fueled by skill of recession and hostility over the election of the 1st black president!! seems those each physique isn't in basic terms a greater danger to American freedoms than exterior terrorists yet thoroughly anti American!!!

Satan has been trying to create division in the body by putting up doctrines and traditions, so people won't be in agreement. But what he will use for evil, God will use for good. Now there are many ways for different people to come to know Christ. :)

it all began to deteriorate when martin Luther wanted to create his own form of Christianity. his method led to many others breaking from the one true church( the catholic church). his teachings led to others thinking they could better his form of religion. he edited the bible for his own interpretation to be followed and others continue to do so. i respect and love my seperated brothers in Christ irregardless how they choose to believe. the one constant however is the believe in god and Jesus being the guide for us to be with god. although other areas are hazy we all have this one constant.

Christians may disagree about the details, but we agree about the one true path to God, and frankly that is all that matters.
