Like the post above, I prefer the term used by our Congress: pro-amnesty; I don't believe Senators and State representatives refer to themselves as pro-illegal or pro-criminal! This is not about being on the side of lawlessness!
It's the anti-illegal side on Yahoo's immigration forum insulting the pro amnesty side! What else?

It was just created as a term to oppose "anti-illegal" it just means people who, like myself, believe that these PEOPLE (they're people too, have some compassion) who came from living in homes with no roofs, running water, or electricity, should come to America and follow in the American Dream... They should be given amnesty... by the way pro-illegal is a stupid term, as I don't think anyone should be illegal, pro-immigration is probably better...

It is politically incorrect to call oneself "pro-illegal", so persons of that opinion call themselves "pro-immigration". This enable "pro-illegals" to divert attention from the fact that people who enter the country without permission are committing illegal acts. But since the vast majority of Americans are "pro-immigration" (if it's done legally), and yet anti-illegal immigration, the term "pro-illegal" is needed for clarity of position. "Pro-legal immigration" advocates do not want to be confused with "pro-illegal" advocates. For obvious reasons, "pro-illegal" advocates like the confusion. Makes them sound more noble.

What Exactly is an ANTI-Illegal???? If you can Figure that out then PRO Illegal would be the Opposite of ANTI. Now put your little thinking cap on and see if you can figure it out.

sure, i'll take "pro-illegal" to describe myself. just as i do "pro-choice" or even "pro-abortion" if that's what the other side prefers. i'd rather be for (pro) the rights of others to live as they choose than against (anti). "anti-" implies hatred and a desire to clamp down on the rights of others. give me "pro-" over that anyday.
besides, as many groups have learned, calling yourself by the bad names that your enemies call you weakens their destructive power.

i am not pro-illegals if i was pro-illegal by that i would be saying that i want them to stay that way . i want a comprehensible reform like the large majority of Americans do . i am pro-understanding their situation and pro-fixing the immigration problem which includes millions who are just like u and me .
look at this poll by the republicans to the republicans :

the pro-illegals protest and challenge the anti-illegals against the rights of citizenship, the right for our country to exist, and to further aid and abet lawlessness to further only thier agendas.
Therefore they are PRO-ILLEGAL and PRO-CRIMINAL.
