Computer go faster is I transfer as much essays and saved programs to my Portable 20 GB Hard drive? Or, should I just buy more Ram or something? Help, my laptop is slow.

Think of a Hard drive as the trunk of your car.
The Processor is the engine.
And the RAM is the number of lanes on the highway.

More CPU is great, but without RAM, it won't matter much.
More HDD space is just like adding a 2nd trunk, more space, but your car isn't going to go any faster. Similarly, emptying the trunk will make the car (PC) go slightly faster, but what really matters is getting that open right-hand lane to pass the guy in front of you ;)

Bottom line:
Add some more RAM.
