Because the idiots in charge think we have to accommodate the non English speaking people here - so there has to be extra options... like press 2 for Spanish. Whatever happened to Immigrants coming here legally and actually learning the language?

There is no official language in the United States in the lawbooks. No federal law exists to this point, as far as I know, but I'd love challenges to the contrary. The colonists spoke all kinds of languages, not just English. Not much has changed.

That grates on my nerves when i call and the first thing i hear is primo dos para espanol or press 1 for english. Bull*&^$!!! When i went to Mexico, nothing was in english. When i go to apply for a job, the one who is bi-lingual will get if before me and when im driving and theres some ****** that doesnt know what their doing. its usually a mexican in a 40k suv that lives in a shack off of our welfare system. Not to mention it takes time away from my childs learning when they cant speak english in school and the teacher has to spend more time with them. I get so fed up

if they couldn't send home all the money earned here in the USA whether legal or illegal then i believe it could be a start why don't we make it illegal to send money overseas unless you can prove your identity, as anyone tried to get money from say western union overseas and what that gov requirement are, proof positive by passport and your visa for that country, no positive proof no money so why not do the same in the USA if you are legit then no worries to send or receive, it could be start to curb illegal if they cant send home the money earned, as for the pressing of one for English wait soon as more illegals from other country emerge it will be a multiple choice, it will say if you think you are American wait till the end of announcement of other choices and then make your selection it just sucks

In reading most of the answers, I once again am assured that the majority of Americans feel about the same way. I encourage all of you to e mail your representatives. It doesn't take long. They will listen..you are their meal ticket...they work for you...to REPRESENT you...tell them to stand up, close the freaking border, account for the illegals, deport them out of our prisons, get them off our welfare rolls, modify the 14th ammendment, etc.

Because in America we feel the need to cater to others that are here illegally. What a bunch of @#$%. It is out of hand when I use my Wells Fargo Drive Thru ATM and I have to choose: English, Chinese, Spanish, Farsi, etc to conduct my business.......UGH.... Not to even mention the fact that this Drive Thru ATM has braile keys on it........how many blind people have you seen driving a car to the ATM lately.........Seriously, we need to finally select a national language and be done with it.
