There are approximately 1,421,950 personnel in the U.S. Armed Forces (active & reserve). Of that, there are around 133,000 U.S. personnel in Iraq.

Therefore the percentage of the Armed Forces serving in Iraq is about 9%.

The percentage or gross number isn't the full answer. It is a very very debatable figure but it seems that in most modern armies the ration of combatants to non combatant troops is 7:1. So to put 100,000 men in the field you need 700,000 troops. Additionally you need to rotate troops, in the front line of WW1 troops were rotated every 2 weeks, though obviously Iraq isnt nearly as difficult decisons or nearly as bloody. This is a bleeding war , with a mounting troop recruitment difficulty as the war becomes less popular. The consequence of this trrops have to rotate quciker, which in turn makes recruitment harder, there by exhaserbating the problem.

Give or take, about 10 -11% of American forces are currently in Iraq. There are about 1.3 to 1.4 million active duty military and there are about 140,000 in Iraq.

There not to many. You have to remember our military isnt only being used in Iraq. We are spread all across the world...
