Because more and more people are coming to accept the real world and reject religious mythology.

Darlin', you've got your faith & that's what keeps you going even after enduring such horrific tragedies as Hurricane Katrina. That's not to say that someone else's path isn't right for them. You've found what works for you & that's what really matters, right?
Now everyone else has to find their own way. It might not be *your* way, but that's okay. You have found Jesus in your heart, and I commend you for that. In this day & age, so many people are out of touch with their purpose in life.
Having said that, I do have atheist friends, and they are not without morals or principles or ethics as many might suspect. They believe in their purpose in life & live their lives fully as decent human beings. Conscience is not dictated by religion, contrary to popular belief.
Furthermore, I am not a Christian. I am a pagan, but I respect your right to believe as you will, as long as your beliefs don't infringe upon nor harm others.
In fact, we may have very similar beliefs, considering that much of Christianity was drawn upon ancient pagan beliefs.
In the long run, it's all about respect. I love my atheist & Christian friends, but I get annoyed when I log onto Yahoo! Answers & see everybody trying to prove that their belief is the *right* one.
Be whom you are. Believe in whom you will (or not at all) but whatever works, do it.
Just stop trying to change everybody else's minds.

I'm constantly amazed at the arrogance of christians who "know" that their belief is true and think that we atheists must somehow "deep down" know that we are wrong.
Here is what I think: All you have is your feeling that you are right. You think that feeling comes from outside of you, but it doesn't. It comes from your brain and your hormones, and was programmed into you either when you were very young, or by some traumatic event.
Consider that there are many people all over this world who where never exposed to Christianity that are equally convinced that their religion is true. Do you think that "God" chose to bless you with perfect knowledge, and chose to not give that knowledge to those of us who are atheist, and to completely deceive believers of other religions??

Although I do not share your belief, I appreciate your feelings. We all deserve respect for what we believe. I am so sorry to hear that you have been through so many sad times. Stay close to your God and He will watch over you. If He has watched over you this far, and He will watch over you until the good times come and beyond. Be well and take care, dear.

All i can say is...that there are no athiest in hell...by the time they get there they will be true believers. The sad part is it will be too late.
I don't pray to the mother of christ...i go to a non denominational church that just means that we don't have any denominational traditions or anything (such as going up infront of everyone to take communion, or lent.) We just pray to just God and end in his son's name

I am an Atheist. I have read the bible and attended many church services. I made a choice. That choice was not to believe in god. That is the choice that makes sense to me. You also made a choice, to believe. Why is that so hard to understand? We look at what we are given and choose to believe what we feel is right. I feel I have made the right choice as do you. No one can know for sure.

Can somebody please help me to know why religious groups think us atheists are just sad individuals unaware of their fine spiritual leader's gifts to us?
It amazes me that religious groups think atheists are simply in the dark, because we have difficulty puting faith in something that has never been proven as minfesting it's power, revealing itself, or showing us anything to believe in. Yes, I know it ocmes down to faith. I for one, find it crazy that some would blindly accept old-wives tales passed on and on. I truly think religion holds the world down. As everyone else says, think of all the wars we fight in the name of 'freedom" freedom translated to "a religious view other than our own". For what it's worth, I'm in the military, and i have loved every moment of being in. I just happened to wake up one day, and say, you know what, this is all B.S. If we are all just 'beings' put here someway or another, with no religious repurcussions, why don't we join up as one group, instead of races, or regions, instead of gays and straights, let's make our own world a better place for humanity. Wow, I really am living in the dark.....

Atheism is spreading thanks to the ACLU, atheist academics, liberals, the Supreme Court, and every science class that pounds atheistic philosophy instead of true science. Our public schools have become atheist training camps and liberal parents sit back and could care less what their kids believe in.
PS:You shouldnt pray to Mary, she is not God. You may find yourself making an even worse life for yourself in the afterlife.
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD -Deuteronomy 18:10

they just dont believe. some by reason, some by choice.
although we can have reasonable discussions with them, dont think that you can change all of their minds. there are those in the jewish faith that follow the scriptures, but do not believe in God or Christ as the Messiah. the same can be said of my chosen belief of christianity. there are those that "fit in" but do not truly believe.
dont hurt your head about it. pray for them, discuss (not argue) with them and realize that it's like fishing. you'll get some fish eventually, but the vast majority are out of your reach.

Have you noticed the breath we breathe is more and more polluted by countries run by Christians?
If Christians care so little for the gifts of God, why chastise those of us who are not Christian for using it?
