I go back and forth about whether I believe in ghosts or spirits or whatever. The idea of them creeps me out.
The other night, I was asleep, and I heard, clear as day, someone say my name. It woke me up, and when I opened my eyes, at the side of my bed was a boy, with red skin and black hair, and he put a finger to his lips, like to "shush" me, and leaned forward and disintegrated into thin air. I lay there for ten minutes waiting to wake up; I thought it had to be a dream, but it wasn't. I was already awake. It was quite frightening. I often wake up and think I see figures around my bed who linger for a few seconds to a few minutes and then fade away, but they were never as clear as this boy. When I had a piano I used to hear it play in the middle of the night, too. I live in 110 year old house, and I suppose if any house is haunted it would be this one.
So I guess I do have to believe in ghosts somewhat, or admit that I'm some crazy person who hallucinates. I do know someone who says she is a medium, and she seems very honest. She is a close family friend and holds circles at her friends houses. She once told me that ghosts follow me around, and that they like my energy. It sounds strange to write down, like I said I don't know if I believe it myself, but I think there's a possibility that they do exist.

I have seen/experienced some things that many people would attribute to ghosts. But I'm not sure that any one really knows what ghosts are. First, ghosts may not even exist. Ghosts can be placed in two categories. Viewing or sensing an entity is what normally comes to mind whenever we think of ghosts. The other category is poltergeist activity.
Many people suppose that ghosts are apparitions of spirits or entities of deceased people who once inhabited a physical body in our world. This is the most common belief (probably worldwide). In my opinion, this is the most unlikely of all scenarios.
Another possibility is that some ghosts are due to overactive imaginations or even hallucinations, especially the ghosts that are only sensed or felt (cold feelings, odor, etc.)
I think there must be several types of visible ghosts. Some are seen as wisps of smoke or mist or otherwise transparent. Some appear more solid. Since we really don't understand the nature of time and/or space (or the makeup of the human entity for that matter) I'm inclined to think that many sightings of ghostly apparitions of a more solid nature, especially when the ghosts are seen dressed in clothing more appropriate to an era unlike the current one, may actually be a scene from a different time period.
Then there are the poltergeists or poltergeist activity. An example of this would be when objects fly around or across a room without any obvious physical cause.
Last, but perhaps not least, is the notion that visible apparitions may be a specter of a person still inhabiting a physical body. There is a possibility that some visible ghosts are "astral" bodies of people who are asleep in some other location.
I know personally that spirits exist, but I do not believe they are the "ghosts" of so-called "deceased" persons. Our minds are comprised of many spirits, both good and evil, and everywhere in between. We are not one person, but many.
Mediums also exist, but they are not the professional mediums that get rich with the money of the gullible. As a matter of fact, mediumship is how the Scriptures were written. People wrote the Words of God as they received them.

I have been a Medium for years, and know that there are certainly spirits and also echos of the past as well as those more sensitive to them.
Last October I became a Christian because I felt this was the best way to get away from the adverse side of being sensitive, as God is much stronger then any of these.
I was almost continually attacked until a few months back I got together with other ex-wiccans, ex-pagans, ex-sensitives and asked God to shut down my perception of the other world except if there was something God wanted me to do about that particular thing.
Its great to walk down the street, in old buildings, around hospitals and all without being continually hounded and bugged!

Nevermind that what others tell you. There is plenty to learn from the spirits. lots of interesting history and legends.
I consider myself to be a smalltime ghosthunter. nothing big here.
The most interesting thing I have encountered was a recording we got on night at this abandoned school/hospital/resort (it was real old and had been used for alot of things in its past. The was supposed to be a little girl haunting this place. she froze to death waiting for her parents to pick her up when it was a school. Anyway, I opened a brand new audio tape and put it into a recorder and invited any spirits that wanted to say something to go ahead while we explored the area.
About 20 minutes past and we came back to listen. we heard some dogs barking on the tape right after a loud doorbell. mind you there was no doors and no electric in this place. The dogs and the doorbell were loud enough on the recording that they ad to be right on top of the recorder and we would have had to hear them if they weren't from the spirits.
check out Ghoststudy.com
The place we were at was Patapsco Female Institute in Maryland.
Good luck and happy haunting

we lived in a house in rural oklahoma. my mother and myself both saw what we called the "woman in white" a couple of times in a period of a year.
my dad finally saw her and so did a friend of mine, who stayed over one night. i never talked about "her" to my buddy.
years after we moved out of the house, the owner prior to our landlord, was arrested for the 40-year old case of his missing wife.
evidently he had taken her to the bus-stop in oklahoma city and she went to visit her sister. in actuality, it was his girlfriend who boarded the bus and got off and came back.
he had killed his wife and buried her remains under the house. the remains were found when the company that bought the house from our landlord tore the house down and excavated the earth to put in new plumbing and foundation.
where we saw the "lady" was in our bathroom moving to the dining room and into the kitchen. when we heard the story a few years later, we put it together (with his testamony) that the "lady" was first bludgeoned to death in the bathroom and hallway. her body had been buried under the house, relative to under the kitchen where "she" always walked to, when we saw her.
spooky still, but i believe. i am christian, btw.

Nope, Nope, Nope... The Bible says that they do not exsist becuase once you die, then you are judged.. No lingering no haunting no nothing... Just Heaven or Hell...
But here is how you can know for sure that you can get into Heaven...
REALIZE THERE IS NONE GOOD
Romans 3:10
As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one;
SEE YOURSELF AS A SINNER
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
RECOGNIZE WHERE SIN CAME FROM
Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned;
REALIZE THAT CHRIST DIED FOR YOU
Romans 5:8
But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
TAKE GOD AT HIS WORD
Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
TAKE GOD AT HIS WORD AND CLAIM HIS PROMISE FOR YOUR SALVATION
Romans 10:9-11
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.
Now pray; confess that you are a sinner, ask God to save you and receive Christ as your Saviour.
