They really deserve the Grandparents of the year award. They were watching my 2 year old today. After he was down for a nap, he called for them about 20 minutes later. When they went into the room, they were overcome by the smell of poop. They found him covered in poop. He had smeared it all over the crib. He smeared it into the blanket, sheet, stuffed animals and flung it across the room. They cleaned him up and his surroundings and handled it without yelling, spanking or laughing. They deserve something special. Any ideas?

Arrange for and pay for a professional photo (they do them at Wal-Mart and at the mall; I'm not suggesting hiring a photographer) of them and the kiddo together, just the three of them. That way they feel special and appreciated, and they have something to help them remember that your baby WAS clean once in a while. (smile) Grandparents love photos of their grandbabies, and this would be something they would be able to cherish always, unlike flowers or food or wine.

Get a baby-sitter for a night and ask them to come over to your house. Have your husband pick up your parents and bring flowers to your mother-in-law. Then have a nice dinner prepared and enjoy a night with them.
If you're not much of a cook, just send them a big thank-you letter...express your thanks and tell them how much you appreciate them. If you want to actually GIVE them something, send a gift-card of some sort.
You got lucky--a good set of in-laws! :)

According to finaces! You could send them on a month cruise or expensive weekend to themselves! But, if you are like me with limited funds, I would make a nice gift and card and give them a big hug and kiss and let them know you appreicate them for just being them!

Give them a bottle of hand sanitizer and one of those masks like the dentist wears. They might find it funny. also, maybe a gift card to a restaurant. Can't ever go wrong with that.

Take them out for dinner, buy them a cocktail, and raise a toast to them. "Here's to the best poop cleaners ever! I'm sure you got a lot of experience from your son!"

Yeah, a restaurant gift card (a nice, preferably kid free, restaurant) and a thank you note would be nice with it.
