everything in the news seems to portray something from scripture, especially the biblical book of revelation. do you think there is any veracity in thinking that we might see armaggeddon in our lives?

I think they're wrong. The stuff in Revelation is so vague it could be applied to any situation and be called the end times. I'm not holding my breath.

No. Many peoplesaid the end of times would occur in 2000 and it did. The age that began when Jesus was born ended in 2000. It did not mean we would all die. It was just a legend of paranoid minds. Well, there was a prophet named Nostradamus who says the world would end in 1999, which never happened. The Y2K bug was supposed to kill everybody as I have heard, and that never happened. Every year, people throw out dates they say the world will end. The world was supposed to end today. We are all living, aren't we? In ancient times, they predicted the world would end at a certain time, which I forget, and that date came without incident. They gave up on that and one Biblical scholar said "We constantly make predictions the World will end, but our fathers have lived their lives without any incident." Nobody but God knows when the World will end. Revelation is not exact at all and is so old we could have mistranslated dates for the end of the world. To add to that, on National Geographic, a program aired which discussed the possibility that John, who wrote Revelation, might have actually been on the verge of insanity. They were serious. Don't listen to the 2012 doomsday prediction, because that is a common misconception. On a special Mayan calender there is a special 400 year period ends on December 21st, 2012, at 11:18 in the morning. Every ancient calender has a special period that has to end some time. Nobody realizes that is just the beginning of the Winter Solstice, or winter. That is why the calender ends. It's ends exactly on the beginning of winter. Why would the world end on Winter Solstice. Warand natural disaters is just a part of human nature, and it will always be. And everyone dies eventually, so what is to fear about the end of the world, (even though it will not happen during our lifetime), as long as you pray to God and believe in Him and live by His code?

Remember all the "Year 2000 Survival" kits? Everyone thought planes would fall out of the sky etc? The things in Revelations will never happen as long as we work to make sure it doesn't happen through good diplomacy, compromise, and respect for other cultures. Revelations is why Christianity is weak. They should throw Revelations out and work towards making life better rather than sitting around saying "See, See, it's coming".

...Never mind, I agree with you it is coming. So I am going to start doing drugs since there is no future.

The Bible told us that we would not know the time that Jesus would come back, but HE did give signs of his returning such as the earth would be at its worse, hense: earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. He said that the church would become lukewarm, hence certain churches dismissing things that are stated in the Bible in order to fit societies beliefs. He said that the middle East would be at peace, and the peacemaker will be the antichrist. We have seen some of those signs but when John was writing revelation, he thought that he was in the end times, and so has every generation after him. We are definatly getting closer but we aren't meant to think about that, we are just meant to spread God's word. He wants to bring back as many of his children to Himself as He can. But when it starts to get really bad is when His children(Christians) are taken home and thats when the seven years of tribulation begin. I see signs every day that lead me to believe that we are in the end times, things have just become so twisted. Society has begun to make good seem bad and bad seem good, which is another sign. Just believe God, He doesn't tell us these things to condemn us or punish us, He tells us to warn us and tell us that there is a way out, through him:) Just believe. He fills that empty hole in everyone that they claim is not there, but that is because they try to fill it by every other possible means, such as money or looks, or popularity. There is a greater battle between good and evil now, God's name has never been mentioned so much in society, and with our technology nowadays, it can spread everywhere. Just believe, please, He wants you more than you could possibly imagine.

Actually it is really silly. Every, and I mean EVERY turn of the century, this is said. It is easy to look for proof of the signs of armaggedon.

I remember seeing a whole 1 hr tv special about how using the measurements of a hallway in the pyramids, that we were all supposed to die in 2004 or 2006. People are just scaring themselves silly and so they spread stories.

There is no point in thinking about it much. You could die at ANY time, so you should be prepared anyways. Live every day like it's your last, that sorta stuff. So the world ending for everyone shouldn't really change anything for yourself.

we are living in the last days, it's the question:"last days of what?" that is the hard one to answer. Are these the last days of existence or just the last days of an age or era. Brent e answered your question 'no' with reference to a mayan 400 year calender. this calender is actually a 26000 year calender which is based on the rotation of the galaxy. it is due to end on 21st december 2012 the mayan 'end date'. it is meant to signify the dawning of the golden age and the age of aquarius, a period in which we as a race ( human) will prosper and live in peace. there is also the belief that we are all about to be thrust forward in evolution and start to live as interdimensional beings transcending the restrictions of a physical being. who knows? no-one knows we'll find out soon enough. live well, love well, be well

Last days of what? Planet earth? Heck no!

Last days of this age? Oh yes, as a matter of fact, we may be living in the last three months of this age.

We've already seen the first four seals of Revelation 6 opened, the fifth seal occurs in heaven, so there's no seeing it from our vantage point, and the sixth seal involves a great earthquake and we've had plenty of serious earthquakes lately, probably getting ready for the great one of Rev 6:12.

It is at the time of that earthquake that this age ends. Then as the seventh seal is opened and the fourth and final age begins.

November 5 may be the first day of the next age. But it won't be the rapture of the church because that doesn't occur until the seventh and last trumpet.

I don't know about Armageddon but you have a good chance to see a holy war that will come out of the Middle East, I do believe a plan is in place because Muslim leaders keep calling for it, it's inevitable just a matter of time.

Yes, I believe that we are living in the "last days." Acts 2 fulfills the prophecy in Joel 2 and begins the Church Age which is what we will be in until the church is raptured. (Notice the lack of the church during most of the book of the Revelation.)

I find it very exciting that we are nearing the time when our Savior will come back for us and eventually the battle of Armageddon where He will be the victor and bind Satan for 1000 years.

"No one knows of that day or hour not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son but only the father." Every time in history something terrible happens people say we're living in the end times so we will never know and before the rapture happens which I believe it will be pre-tribulation (which again no one knows for sure) but before it happens everyone has to have heard the Good News.

Yes, the last days of trouble, problems, of human governments, not the earth.

Soon, the Great Tribulation will start as God judges his house, the Christians, 1Peter4:17,...then there will be a time until mankind is totally under the New Heavens.

Many living today will see some of these events, I believe.
