He pack his stuff and left without telling us where he was going and at the same time stole all our money and valueable. My mom was devestated and so was I. We found out later on that he had went to a different country and started a new life with our money. Since then he had gotten with another lady and got two kids from her. It has been over 15 years since I have seen or heard from him. Now that I got my own kids, I feel that I really misses him and want to reconnect but am afriad that he would only want money. I told my mom and she is very angry. So my question is, should I contact him? Thanks.

I have voluntarily cut off contact with my father. I have people all the time telling me that I should reconnect with him. I do not want to. I guess my point is to do what you think is right. My kids often ask why they only have one grandpa, I just tell them he was a bad person. They understand that. So if that is your reason, well again, make your own decision is the theme of my answer. You will be right no matter what it is.

That decision is all yours. But my opinion, since you're asking, is that if people run off and don't want to be contacted, then it's best to not contact them. However, I DO think he owes you something and you have every right to tell him how SH!TTY it is to be what he is and to do what he's done. It's hard to see why you'd miss someone like that, and if you can get money from him - GET IT!! It's FUC*KED UP that he deserted you all like that, taking everything to start a new life... He sure doesn't care what kind of life YOU'VE been left with. To hell with people like him. He's no kind of father and you'll just get hurt again.

My sympathies go with you and yours.

Find a friend or even a councellor to talk about your feelings of abandonment, but don't ever give a rat another way to get into your house to steal the cheese, if you get my metaphorical message.

I'll think about you tonight when I talk to God. Love those kids good, they are a blessing to you!

i think you should contact with him, but just be careful, and don't give him any money, and if the only reason he wants to reunite with you is because of the money, then just leave it and leave the past behind. good luck. im sorry to hear what your going through, i hope things work out.

Yes, contact him. I understand your mother's anger. On the other hand there is an incurable itch (it's more than an itch) to connect with one's parents and, for yourself, if you want to do so, get to it.
