Yep! I am 12 year old. About.. 1.55-1.60 height in metres, and weigh (Sp?) about.. 66-67 kilos.

Soo! What would be a good diet? I dont mean like "Only eat salads!"

I used to eat a lot, inbetween foods. I am trying not to do it anymore (It's going all right!), and since two days ago, I've been walking on a treadmill for 25 minutes at 2.5 miles per hour. Also, at school, I always ate junk food. (Mexican school.. No cafeteria.. lots of junk food.) Would this be enough to loose some weigh? I sometimes feel temptation to go back to my eating habits, but I resist.

I also drink a lot of soda.About 5 glasses per day.should I slow down on soda?

Well, hope you can help me!

First things first-- talk to your doctor. He (or she) can help a lot to answer any questions.

Okay, here we go.

1. Cut waaaaaay back on the soda. Try having it only once a day, and having water or a juice mixed with water (ew, right? Well, it's actually really good). Get most of your calories (it's energy, essentially, but it can go to your cells and they contain it).
from foods.

2. Eat 4-6 meals a day. 3 big meals, with breakfast being the largest, and a few snacks/desserts. As for eating, try going vegetairan, but talk to your doctor and parents about it. It helps keep the weight down. Also, eat lots of fruit and vegetables. You don't necessarily have to eat a lot of vegetables, but combine the two as one group. They are low in fat and calories, and happen to be very tasty. Discover a few mixtures of food-- for instance, you could try making smoothies. Do eat starches and grains (bread and potatoes are examples). Also, get a lot of calcium, as you will need it. Milk, cheese, yogurt, yadada, I'm sure you've heard it all before. If you don't like milk products, then take a supplement. Do NOT starve yourself for any period of time. Okay? Good. Also, keep in mind food is your friend, not an enemy. Go ahead and indulge once in a while. But too much of anything is a bad thing, so keep the sweets to a minimum.

3. Vitamins are also important to take.

4. Exersize. It's good that you are doing it, and keep up the good work!!! You've gotta start from the bottom, and work your way up. Soon I'll see news about a 12 year old running a marathon here...;) Also, to lose the most amount of fat, do not exersize past the point where you can talk. You want to be able to talk. Other than that, you're building muscle. Don't forget to take a break once in a while to let the muscles rebuild.

5. I wish you the best of luck, and have fun!

Talk to your doctor as everyone else here has said. And talk to your parents.

Don't try things like the 'South Beach Diet'. Those don't work, and your risk of heart diease goes up 70%. I don't think you have to worry about that since you are only 12 but, damn the American metric system for separating us from the rest of the world, I'm not sure how much over weight you are if you are at all.

It's great that you are cutting back on snacks between meals. Don't overdo it though. It is best to eat four smaller meals each day as my sister already said. It's also great that you are doing exercise.

Cut back the soda to about 2 a week. Drinking one serving of soda a day can cause you to gain 15 pounds a year(in kilos I'm not sure, but not a healthy amount).

Good luck!

There really isn't any real good diets! Just eating healthy! Lots of fruits and vegies and proper amounts of low fat protiens are great for you and watch your serving sizes! Avoid High fatty foods and cholesterol. And try not taking in to much sodium. If it feels like your sugar drops or your to hungry try eating six small meals aday! You need to try to get at least 8 glasses of water a day and stay away from those sugary drinks! Also exercise should be fun try dance classes or swimming walk with a friend there are plenty options out there.

Find something else other than soda. This site has suggestions. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

Cut down on the soda. Replace some of those glaces with water and juice. Eat lots of fruit, veggies, good protein. Cut down on the fat, sugars and carbs.

at 12 you should not be even thinking about dieting!!
i have never dieted - i dont believe in them....i think they screw up your metabolism and make it worse on you for weight.
eating healthy is always a good idea though....take in less calories and make the calories you do eat better choices. and yes!! cut back on soda....that stuff is soooo bad for you. try drinking more water and exercise. dont worry about a diet it will just start you on a rollercoaster you cant get off.
im 5'8'' and i weigh about 135 lbs. and i have never dieted!

At your age i wouldn't recomend a diet. You are still in a growing process so you need to eat "right", thats all. No junk food. Now if your intenssion is to lose weight you need to exercise a lot. No diets but EXERCISE.

a good diet for a 12year old is weight watchers. You can still eat the foods you like you just have to watch your points. Check out weight watchers.com and go from there.
