I have a friend who thinks sex toys are the best way to have a intimate relationship. She feels as long as they are properly cared for and cleaned they are the safest form of a sexual relationship.

Sex toys take away from intimacy if she's using them for an excuse not to develop a relationship with a person, or to avoid the vunerability of sexual contact with another person. If she's just using them for a masturbatory aid, then ENJOY, ENJOY!! I wouldn't worry about it unless she's having a hard time orgasming without the toys. Although use of the toys is the safest sex, the toys cannot be a substitution for a person, and if they are, you need to tell her to examine what she is so afraid of.

Toys become a distraction when they become the focus and not the partners.

If your friend prefers the company of appliances over the warm touch of another person, she has deeper issues than her comfort with her sex life.
