i don't know that you can press charges you don't have proof he did it. My room mates heroin addicted sister stole my t.v a leather coat and a stereo. We were pretty sure it was her when it happen however they don't put people in jail because someone said they did something or you think they did. However I FOUND MY LEATHER COAT later in a bag of her stuff she STILL FLAT lied that she did not steal it. I know dealing with addicts is hard in reality a addict only thinks are care about the addiction this grand dad's habit is more important RIGHT NOW then the baby "it's part of the addiction". Don't allow him in your lives move and when and if he cleans up make him pay 4 the stolen stuff before you deal with him again. I had to kick out my room mate to keep his sister away i moved now i don't deal with them PROBLEMS SOLVED.

Tell the man to check into a rehab clinic. Then tell him that if he doesn't go the consequence will be jail. Then stick to the promise. If he doesn't go or leaves rehab report the crime to the police.

By the way, whether or not the buyer paid for it, the items are not hers. It's receiving stolen property. You do have the right to get it back,. but it will need to involve the police. No one can buy your things without your consent!

Tell your boyfriend that he has to get back the money for those clothes and baby items. Obviously, his crack-head Dad won't have the money so tell your boyfriend he needs to figure out a way to get those things back (either buy them all over again or go to the girl and see if you can get them back). You should also change the locks and kick the boyfriend's dad out and tell him not to come back until he's clean. You don't need this. I would call the cops next time.

Ignoring this situation helps no one, not to mention adds enormous stress to your relationship!

His father needs to be arrested & go into treatment.
People on crack rarely if ever quit on their own or truly feel sorry for what the do when high.
They become great manipulators, he probably has his son reeling right now & feeling bad for him.

You should report this to your local PD.

Good Luck & do what is REALLY best for your daughter!

it's hard to come between family but he has to be a man and side with his daughter. SHE has to come first. he's a daddy now even though his own isn't being one. maybe you need to set a rule and make it stick you don't want you father in law anywhere in the house or around your daughter as long as he's doing his drug, and won't be allowed near her until he gets help, gets clean and turns himself around.
tough love is usually the best, but you both have to put that 10 month old first over a grown man who made a bad decision.
peace and good luck!

What environment are you raising your child in ? What type of association do you have with others ? Perhaps the stolen clothes is a preview of things to come. I worry more about your child's future environment. Tell ole papaw good bye till he cleans his act up period ! But I hope you and yours associate with responsible, intelligent, ethical people.

I would demand replacement of the stolen items, and the cost of changing the locks.
Give the grandfather the choice of replacing the stuff or dealing with the cops.

Call the police. The crackhead needs some help. If you dont, he will keep stealing. He will eventually steal from the wrong person and get hurt, or killed.
