I had a surprise 'party' when I was 6, but my sister ruined it. I think it would work as long as you tell everyone that its a surprise and you cant say ANYTHING about it. a good theme would be princess, and you can get a little tiara&wand for a couple bucks at walmart. you could have it at your own house... or at a skate rink. if you have each kid bring money for skate rentals, you cann skate for a couple hours then have cake, ice cream, and open presents. if all of the guests meet you at the rink, then you tell her you are going to the store, it will surprise her... good luck

I know what it is like to be on a limited budget, so for my boys I would let them pick out what is for dinner and then for dessert we would have sundeas with all the works. While we were eating our desserts we would watch a movie of their choice or play a game of their choice, and they could have over as many friends as they wanted. Sundaes and games are so much more cheaper then a party at a pizza or hamburger place, and they will remember it for years to come. Most kids don't care about the what they care more about the who.

I dont think at age 6 she would really understand it. Try just planning a party theme of a character that you know that she likes. Or even better take her and a couple of her closest friends to a bear builder shop. Those are always fun, and they set up everything for you.

Hi,
Don't throw a surprise party because there is always chance of her finding out.
Instead get her to help you prepare for the party, she will love it. Start by getting her to wrap little bundles of Candy's for gifts for the other kids to take home. Use lots of bright coloured ribbons for her to tie around them.
As for themes, these are some of my favourite ones.
1. The Pirates of the Caribbean or Black Beards Hidden Treasure
2. Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus
3. Cowboy/Cowgirl Western Party
4. Aladdin and Princess Jasmine
(they can even dress up like, I Dream of Jeanie)
5. Prince & Princesses
6. Elfs and Fairy's
Below are two sites to vistit with heaps of idea's

If you go with the Pirate's or Aladdin theme buy the chocolates that are covered in gold or silver foil that look like coins from a treasure chest or Aladdins cave and hide them around the place for the kids to find.
Get your daughter to draw treasure hunt map with clues, help build a cardboard treasure chest, have her paint pirate flags to place around the place or drape beautiful vails around.
Don't forget you can save youself a forture if you buy bits and peices for the party for an Op Shop, like cheap jewelly to put in your treasure chest.
