This is from wikipedia...

The longer the duration of tick attachment, the greater the risk of disease transmission, but, typically, for the spirochete to be transferred, the tick must be attached for a minimum of 12 hours, although, only the first part of this statement can be said to be strictly correct. (see Proper Removal of Ticks). Unfortunately only 20% of persons infected with Lyme by the deer tick are aware of any tick bite,[6] making early detection difficult in the absence of a rash. Tick bites usually go unnoticed due to the small size of the tick in its nymphal stage, as well as tick secretions that prevent the host from feeling any itch or pain from the bite. New research suggests that transmission can occur with in a few hours of tick attachment, and that the rate of transmission by infected ticks may be much higher than previously assumed

Proper removal of a tick: use a pair of tweezers, grab the head of the tick near the mouth, and pull it out. The area should then be disinfected with rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. If the head is not completely removed, local infection of the person/animal bitten may result, and a doctor should be consulted

Don´t stress....I´ve had lots of ticks and never lyme disease....I think it´s pretty rare.

First, did you get the whole blood sucker out? Second do you know if it was a Wood Tick or a Deer Tick? Deer ticks are more likely to Cary Lyme disease. Keep an eye on the spots where they bit you. Watch where they bit you closely if you start to see what looks like a target (bigger and bigger circles kind of like a dart board) get to the Dr. Did you by any chance save the carcases? Because they can test the bugs to see if it was a carrier instead of just rolling the dice or putting you through tests. I'm in MN and I pick them off my dogs all the time and keep them in a zip lock bag just in case any of my dogs get sick. Be careful and I hope you are okay.

not possible i even spray my dog with tick and flea prevention spray but she still gets them. I had one not to long ago but nothing happened, the bumb stayed but the tick is out and i am fine. You can go to the doctor to get them taken out then they do a check on the tick to see if it had lime disease and if in fact it did they would call you. That what the Doctor told me.

cant bro. you need to get blood tests done every month. you must do this every month because lyme disease is not in your entire bloodstream. It hangs out in a small cluster. If you get a blood test done and it comes out negative - that just means that one specific sample is negative but it could still be there. Check with a doctor and if he disagrees get a second opinion. This is true and you dont want lyme disease. good luck.

Don't worry about the 'small-stuff'... if you want to avoid ticks, stay out of the woods. Or wear long pants.

If you run a very high fever, see a doc.
It can be deadly.
Not all ticks carry lime disease.

make sure they are out completely. If the head stays in your flesh then go see a doctor. Or how about go to the doctor anyway. you pay insurance every month for a reason right

If you have been infected and you are noticing symptoms, then call your local doctor. However, if this is just a fear, then just relax. You might not have it.

however, if you find it hard to ease your mind, go visit your doctor and speak to them about what you can do to test if you have it or not.

you need to go to the doctor and get tested for lime disease. they can give you shots if you have lime disease. as long as you get it treated you won't die.
