Using a a microwave oven for appx 20 yrs. Don't remember this happening before. When being used to cook for over 20 mins., top of d oven seems to b warmer than normal (almost hot). Is this normal?

lol ... sorry had to laugh at those answers ... not your question ... yes ... this is normal ... just depends on what you are cooking and how much heat that it is putting off itself. The internal heat of what you are cooking is what warms the oven. Now if you boil a glass of water and the top gets that warm ... mmmm definately go out and buy a new one :)

Wait a minute, the microwave in question is OVER 20 years? WOW! Or you've been using various microwave ovenS for over 20 years? Makes sense, so have I. Well, I can tell you that from MY experience with a multitude of microwave ovens that it is NOT common for the top of it to become hot. So nope, not normal. I'd say if it happens again either buy a newer one or else possibly risk setting fire to the residence each time used. Good luck & again, WOW if your microwave is that old. I had one that was over a decade, but barely.
