I don't even let them swear in the privacy of my own house, I was just curious what some issues are with this - I know many five year olds who swear.

I don't even allow other peoples childrens to swear, let alone my own. I was in a store today and a 18-20 yr. old guy walks by and coughs into the open. Do you think I just let him pass. No, I told him, "Cover your mouth, please". He apologized and walked on. When I hear a kid swearing in public I either shake my head no at them or tell them "Quit your swearing". I don't care who they are.

I let my children say "words" instead of swear words. Swear words are disrespectful. I try to maintain to my children that they should be respectful at all times, even when it's hard (e.g., a bully's picking on them.)

To move ahead in society's culture today, the best way is to be respectful.

No, Young children that swear learn it at home. If the parents don't swear than the children don't. If the parents swear in earshot of the kids than start swearing. They learn langague at home.

My kids don't swear in or out of the house, & we do not swear in
in front of them. Kids that do swear must get it from home, from there parents or the TV.

I wouldn't if I had kids. The thing I don't like most though is that Elementary students swear because they think they're cool because they swear.

I don't let my teenagers swear even around me. I think it is disrepectful. I know that I swear, and they question me about it, but I won't hardly swear around my own parents and I am 43! Now I am not blind or stupid...I know that they probably swear around their friends, but they know not to around adults. Old fashioned, I guess.

I don't let my children swear period. My children are teens now and they still don't use foul language. In fact alot of their friends think that they are weird because they don't swear behind my back.

It doesn't bother me that much if my friends swear... They grew up that way; but I don't like it when like five year olds do it

when they're five they shouldn't be swearing. When they're a teenager its fine to let them swear.

while i am sure my teenager swear when they are not in my presence, i do not let them get away with it within earshot of me. they end up doing all the household chores for a week and no dates/excursions.
