none, baby girl, what if the respond back is not what you expected? this will break you apart. i know that you want to say it but don't. you want to start dating him first just to know him better. you can express your feeling but don't say it.

I am not sure that either one is a good idea. If I had to choose I would try #1. If you go through with #2 you could ruin the entire relationship. Why don't you wait for a while on this? Maybe you haven't been together long enough for him to say it.

i suggest u do it face to face... an emotionaless IM isnt the sort of thing u use 2 tell sum1 u love him. It might be hard, and u might be nervous, but u need to make him feel it and take it seriousely. It took me 15 mins 2 say it to a girl once, but it was xtremely relieving and i never regretted saying it to her face, even though i cudav phoned or IMd... i sumtimes wish i cuda relived those 15 mins lol. It may wreck ur friendship if he doesnt feel the same way, but it isnt hopeless... u can still remain friends... which is wut happened with the girl i told lol

That's pretty bold to put yourself on the line like that. How bout a more subtle approach. That way it would save yourself some embarassment if it doesn't work out. Try asking him "Have you ever thought about us being more than just friends?" That way you're just asking for his opinion while getting an honest answer.

#2 but in person... the IM thing... you never know words typed can be misinterpreted and then he may just think you're joking. It's good to sit down face to face and just be honest. If he's a true friend you have nothing to worry about.. he'll still be your friend. In order to avoid any confusing situations or miscommunication in person is where i would recommend the truth be told.

I dated my best guy friend for a while and it turned out to be a bad idea. But thats not the case for everyone. You sound young, but take a chance and do the mature thing. tell him straight from your mouth. Just say you've developed feelings for him and you want to know if he wants to give it a try. Don't IM him, because that is very childish.

I choose option 3... find someplace to be alone with him and just say randomly say "I like you... Ive liked you since blah blah... i think your (put compliments here) and i just wanted you to know how i feel about you.. your my best friend"
Then you wait for a reaction.. and go with it from there... if he feels the same.. then congrats!... if he doesnt feel the same.. at least you told him how you felt.. and you wont have that feeling of "what if" that your having right now.. but if he doesnt feel the same.. just say that you guys are still best friends and you wanted him to know that.. he should understand.. hes your best friend

Why not just talk to him face to face and tell him. Don't do letter or phone or text or IM or even e-mail, Be personal. In order to get a reaction you need to put forth an effort, show him you do love him and you do want to trie a relationship.

I would prefer the direct approach. So #2, but in person or on the phone is better. If he's really your best friend, it won't ruin the friendship even if he doesn't reciprocate the feelings.

Neither, my friend
said it in person to me, she could see my reaction then, I could see hers...
I had a friend tell me this and I wasn't ready to hear it. I loved her then (and still do), but when she told me I wasn't ready to hear it... ...we stayed together for 1 1/2 years after that, then she broke up with me... 20 years later - we're still friends.
She still not the right one for me and I believe she thinks that I'm not the right one for her, altho we don't have conversations like that any more.
