I believe people are born with much of their personality already formed. Now,character is a different matter and that is where parents play the most important role. Teach a child to care about others and to always do the right thing and you will have assisted them to form a character with which they can change the world.

both my daughters were born with very vibrant personalities. I think parents have a hand in molding behavior, but they don't create their children's personalities. my daughters are very different but I try to treat them the same so if I was the one who created their personalities they would be very alike. Parents can enhance or bring down certain personality traits. But personality always model behavior. So, so kids can be seen as spoiled but that's not personality persay, it's more behavior. Behavior is taught by parents. My first daughter has never listened to me, since the day she started getting into things and walking. I didn't created that trait. She is now three and still turns a deaf ear to me. But my second daughter is very obedient. She's always been like that. Each child is different, some are shy, stubborn. social, quiet. I think that we are born that way for one very important reason: the body is new but the soul is old. Our souls are reborn after death into new lives, that means our personalities carry on with us throughout each new life.

A baby isn't born with a personality because your personality is traits you have from those around you. Think of it this way; if you knew all different people, lived somewhere else, and led a totally different life than you do now, would you still have all the same beliefs? Most likely not. Personality also depends on your surroundings and your past experiences. I was a totally different person before my boyfriend got killed; now I am logical, overprotective, hypercritical, a perfectionist, and throw myself into my work to forget the past. Hope this helps.

I think they are born with some characteristics that are stronger than others, but how they learn to express them is shaped by their parents.

(Some seem shy from birth - some don't. Some seem active - that can be channeled into good behaviors or bad ... )

Yes, babies have personalites, but the actions and beliefs of parents certainly play a role in the development of the child's personality. My husband and I recently adopted a little girl, she definitely has her own personality yet we already see our own personalities beginning to surface in her actions and personality.

I think they are born with one and society influences them as well as family and especially older sibilings. If there are older kids in the house watch what is said around the younger once little kids just want info info info.

I think that it is influential. you can tell that if someone spoils their child, the kid will be greedy and selfish, but if they disciplin the kid and teach him/her manners, then their child will be kind and polite. but I do think that they are born with some traits of their own... like stubbornness or shyness. the thing is, you either end up a mirror image of your parents, or the total opposite. it all depends on the choices you make and how well your parents taught you.

defiatly born with it.

My son and my daughter are totally different.

He was gosh laid back, easy going, hardly ever cried. From the day we brought him home.

She is a DRAMA QUEEN!!!
If you don't do things her way, ignore what she needs at the moment, leave the room, anything she cries on contact.
