and do His magic act at every conception, that that completely changes the meaning and significance of abortion?
If the Christian story about God’s magic act is just a fairytale that somebody made up, how can this be the foundation of secular laws prohibiting abortion?

Most Christians believe that at conception "God plants a seed giving life within the womb". = magic act or miracle
So for those who are not Christian or believe this, and state is separate from the church, why do they base the abortion laws on this act?

I don't even know that abortion is so much of a religious issue--it's just that politicians want to get the "religious right" or conservative Christians on board because they're a pretty significant voting bloc. So, if you're against abortion, then you automatically get a bunch of automata who vote how their "religious leaders" tell them to vote. Basically, if you're against abortion, you can do whatever else you want and people will still vote for you because it's such a polarizing issue. It's not fair for people to get elected based on a single issue and then get to do whatever they want since they have that, "pro-life" banner flying above them. Like, take Reagan. One of his major issues when he was campaigning was abortion (not that I remember his campaigns, but I heard about them after I got a little older.) So, you got the Iran Contra scandal, deficits, Just Say No (wow, what a great idea *that* was!), cutting back on farm subsidies (paving the way for giant farm-corporations and killing off family farms) and deregulation of useful gov't agencies, like OSHA and the USDA (allowing rampant foodservice industry accidents and deaths and horribly contaminated food on the market since you can't inspect or recall it.) Thanks a lot, man! But he never said he'd do all that--his big issue was abortion.

I think the whole thing with abortion (and read some Margaret Sanger or something if you don't believe me) is that men want women to stay oppressed, so they control them by taking away their control of their bodies. A woman who is forced to "have sex" and denied proper contraception and abortions is a slave to her reproductive system--she has babies whenever the *man* wants her to. A fertile woman is stuck giving birth over and over even if she can't take care of the kids she already has. She can't work or even keep her infants from dying off. But conservatives have a real issue with how "uppity" women are if they demand to be in control of their own bodies and minds and finances and lives. And how come "pro-life" people only care about fetuses, not infants? Most infants wind up in foster care or adopted out--but there are so many horror stories with that system, I can't even get into it here. I know for a fact that these kids are being abused and hurt by the system, and a lot of them turn to crime out of desperation and neglect and poverty. Like Janeane Garofalo said, " The fact that conservatives are against abortion but for the death penalty just shows they're procrastinators."

Think about the *real* issue behind abortion--it's not control of the fetus, it's control of the WOMAN. It's not a God issue, it's a women's rights issue. I'm not pro-abortion, but I'm sure as hell not gonna give up the right to control my own body. And if God gave me free will, then I'm gonna use it.

God never "steps in" and does a "magic act" don't know where you got that from, sounds stupid.

And, what conception and abortion has to do with each other, really beats the heck out of me.

Sounds like someone has been spinning some pretty stupid stories, and you've been listening. I'd stop listening to whoever it is if I were you, they are way off.

All that exists exists interior the expertise of God, what's. What only seems to be does no longer exist fairly yet only interior the psychological and emotional states of our very own created experience. we are co-creators as we are made in God's image and so are of an identical stuff. We create our very own techniques approximately actuality that don't regulate actuality in any respect yet only regulate our experience of It. God is universal with of what's and what isn't continually as we are. only we don't understand the type via fact we associate each little thing we expect of and experience with 'what's' even while it fairly is not any longer. as an occasion; If we ensue to establish a rope laying interior the walkway in front people and right this moment think of that's a toxic snake our blood tension rises and adrenalin pumps and concern takes carry and we are able to even leap or start up even however there is not any possibility and no snake and no actuality in what we are responding to. same with a myriad variety of issues in our lives as quickly as we are sure by ability of ego/suggestions and don't see for sure. The issues we equate with God are no longer issues God 'does' yet fairly What God Is. God does no longer care approximately us yet Is the Compassion Itself. God does no longer love us yet fairly, God Is Love Itself. it fairly is not any longer interior the doing that God has created the Universe yet fairly interior the Being that God Is. those are in line with probability little semantic episodes yet i think of they be counted to our expertise and reaction to the Universe wherein we detect ourselves. Namaste' God is the understanding Itself
