Practice. Take deep breaths when you sing. Use your diaphragm to support your voice. Practice more. Practice at home: in the bathroom, in front of the mirror, for your parents, for your neighbor, for your dog. And think of how nervous every other person in the class is... they are feeling very much like you. Go get 'em and sing your heart out!
p.s. it also can help to close your eyes when you sing in class and think of your bathroom, your parents, your neighbor, your dog... anything but being in that class!

Pretend that you are putting on an act...be an actor! Ham it up, if possible. Pretend you are on stage and you are THE star! Be the diva and BELT out that song like you don't give a rats a$s what any of the peons there who paid to see you perform think! Laugh at yourself! Be confident! Being confident doesn't have to mean that you think you are a great singer, it means not living your life according to what others think!

I have the same problem! I don't know wut to do! My friends and/or relatives say i have a good voice, but i am still afraid! i know one day ill heve to over come my fear, just like you. Best of luck to the both of us!

Start singing at home with the radio or your cds. Sing in front of the mirror.
Then go to class and sing in class. Just open your mouth and start singing. Absolutely no one will mind.'

Is the song of your choosing?
If so then just pick your favorite song....then close your eyes and sing it like you're a star on-stage!
If the song is picked for you....hmmmm....then cowgirl up and make that tune your own!

choir huh? I been in choir for a very long time, I sang solo a couple times, just picture the audience in their underwear!
