What can cause bruising other than bumping into something or being hit?

you could have hit your self with out knowing or you could have a low red blood cell count. but its nothing darastic unless they start to really hurt and you feel very weak and loose your appatite. then see a doctor

Some people are more sensitive to bruising than others. Just a slight pressure on the skin can break the blood vessels underneath the skin but not break the skin. It still causes a bruise.'

Sometimes the red blood cells become fragile and break. It will then discolor and will appear as a bruise.

I believe that bruises are just broken blood vessels, so I suppose anyway that you can break a blood vessel you can bruise.

it's wehn the blood vessels under the skin break, but not the skin itself. it changes colors because of the macrophages thinning it out.
