****How could Mohammad be a prophet if he wasn't a Jew? *****

The same way as Jesus and his family were Jews, but for some he is the first Christian.

Luke 4:16
Jesus went to Nazareth, where Jesus had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day Jesus went into the synagogue, as was his custom.

Go figure.

Wrong, Mormans consider Joseph Smith a prophet. Your derogatory comment about Gentiles, would have me think you are a Jew.

The bible speaks of non-Jews as prophets too. Bilam, for example.

Our word "prophet" is from a Greek word.

If prophecy were limited to Jews, wouldn't we use a Hebrew word?

the question of the non Jewish prophet is hotly debated. Some cite bilam as a non Jewish prophet (and a great one, to rival Moses) but others say that he was not a proper prohet but god gave him one vision as a pawn.

There is no requirement for a prophet to be a Jew. I defy you to show me this requirement anywhere in the bible.

The Bible refers to people like Muhammed as a "false prophet'.

Here's the quotes:
"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false prophets among you, who shall privately bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, bring swift destruction upon themselves". (2 Peter 2:1),

"Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is anti-Christ, that denies the Father and the Son. He that denies the Son, the same has not the Father." (I John 2:22)
