The Federal Highway Administration says that the dotted line on an Interstate Highway is 6" - 12" wide, 10 ' Long and 30' appart. So how many dotted lines are there in a 1 mile stretch of a 3 lane interstate?

well the is 264 but what if you count the lines that mark a land that is ending ?those are a broken line plus interstaes are mainteained py the state that they are in so it varies from state to state the only real place were the FHA has a say so in any thing is in the contracting process even then it is a suggestion

There are two dotted lines on a three lane interstate, so counting both sides that is four dotted lines.

You count the lines themselves, not the individual segments of it.

5,280 feet in a mile. 10 feet plus 30 for each line, ergo 40 feet.

132 lines per mile. per lane.
