Three men checked into a hotel room for which they paid £30. The next day, the manager glanced at the records and realised that the men had been overcharged. She gave the porter £5 to return to the three men. On the way to their room the porter decided to keep £2 fo himself, and give each of the three men one pound. The three men had now paid £9 each, or a total £27. This plus the £2 the bellhop kept makes a total of £29. What happened to the other pound?

hotel gets £25 of the £30,

and give back the £5

the guys paid £30 but get back one pound each, leaving £2. there is no missing pound. the remainder £2 is the tip.

or think of this way 3x£9 is £27 but the room only cost £25 (£27-£25) leaving the £2 the tip

Right, if the men paid 30 and it should have only been 25, when they were given their pound each back they'd actually paid 27(3x9). So, they'd still paid 2 over. Which is the 2 the porter kept. So, theres no pound over. More importantly, if i had a Hotel and 3 men tried to book 1 room, i'd charge them a damn sight more than 25 quid! And i don't think the porter would go barging in with 3 quid either!

2 to the bellhop...25 to the clerk...and 3 to the men...adds up to me

the fallacy is when you say the men paid 9 total and 2 to the bellhop. it was 9 total plus the 1 they each got back. the 2 to the bellhop is part of the 27 total they paid.

those u cant answer this is the master of stupidity and i had that crown but i cud ans. it. its quite simple.
of the 30- 5 returned= 25
of the 5 returned- 2 the porter stoled lol=3
so since the 3 men recived only 3+ the 25 with deductables=28
so 28 which is wat the 3 men actually paid + 2 which was stolen is 30.

god u guys r stupid. oh well i got the brains.lol

£30 minus £5 equals £26! NOT £25! (30, 29, 28, 27, 26)
so £26 plus £3 plus £2 equals £30!
there's the other £ !
