Once language is not unified, chaos results. Speak the language of the country.

WOW! What a great analogy!

Yes, our language is English and its part of what 'unifies' us as a nation. There's NOTHING wrong with people using their 'native' tongue in public. But they MUST learn the language of the majority and that's ENGLISH. It always has been and MUST always be.

It's not an insult to ANYONE to say so. This country has so many challenges that threaten it all the time and it only makes sense that we need to UNDERSTAND each other! Keep your native tongue but DON'T be lazy about learning the language of the nation you say you want to live in. It's your RESPONSIBILITY.

WHY wouldn't an immigrant want to learn English? It only serves to make your life easier in the long run. We need to STOP assisting people to 'dumb down' and help them to assimilate into their new society.

You are correct. Due to arrogance and selfishness and greed the people who built the tower met their downfall. A confusion of mutiple languages created many problems.
One language unite-two or more divide--all history. Happens even today in countries-problem after problem.

I cannot believe how stupid some of these answers are. Whether or not you believe in the Bible, it teaches us lessons in life. The Tower of Babel was meant to show that man cannot create a single project (the Tower) speaking different languages.

The point has been made before, it doesn't do any good. Most are to lazy to learn the language, because they have their own little groups and some one to tell them what is being said. Just look at the Cubans some have been here 30 years and have not learned one word of English.

Well, if I recall the basis of that story was to stop ''the bickering'' -- the division had already occurred! Those were the days of ''miracles,'' hahahaha.

It was arrogances that was the reason of their downfall.
