Muslims pray towards Mecca, not towards the east. It is just east if the Muslim happens to be in the Western hemisphere.

Since a Muslim prays towards Mecca, he needs only find the latitude of Mecca and then face this if he is at the North or South Pole.

Huh ?????
Why is important to bow to the east anyways ...good grief ..all God cares is that you talk to him on a daily basis . He really has no concern whether you are facing North ,South, East, Or West when you pray to him....thats just a man made idea.
