I hate the Fundamentalists with a passion.
One of the things that makes me most angry is the MANNER in which they teach children their methods.
Scientists and atheists are EVIL and are out to prove the bible WRONG!
When, really, all scientists really want to do is find an alternative answer to the creation of the universe.
It's not like everyone's out to get them, they and their god aren't that special, really.
Of course they're hypocritical. If they weren't, they probably wouldn't exist. It's basically the 'fundamental' (heh, pun) foundation of their entire belief system.
Eh. They tell me I'm going to hell, so I answer with my Trance music and the plans for a dance party with Satan. ^_^

I think its not limited to christians only. All fundamantalists weather christians, hindus, muslims or jew or even buddahists?? are like that. Human nature accepts only two way ideology. Which means ideology in which there is a choice to go in and out both. While fundamentalists follow one way track. Matter of fact is that deep down they always have some worldly/ materialistic motives ( sometime even they themselve do not know it) They use religion to motivate people but you will always see that they motivate people to get some worldly target using rewards promised in religion. In their world there is always one way street. Kind of denying any other explanation. Thats why historically, you will always find fundamentalist movements limited to a very small group of people and mostly pretty short lived. Blaming religion for fundamentalist actions is not fair. As a matter of fact religion is the one which is abused here. Christian, Jew, Muslim religions came to show people way to humanity and heaven. Fights which were erupted later and were fought in the name of religion then and now, mostly have some political and material gains, not the purpose of serving humanity. Which is, sadly, totally against the spirit of these religions.

I don't know. But I have experienced the same response and more serious...not only because I believe differently, but because of what I believe or what they perceive I believe. I attend my church every Sunday, I hold a leadership position, and I have been a member of my church since 1974.
I've have been told my lot for eternity, sworn at, had rocks thrown at me by members of a "mainstream religion" not a fundamentalist group and tricked into having a religious discussion which turned out to people who wanted to "de-program me. I've been told what I believe by people who have never asked what I believe. They've already read about what I believe. It would be interesting to have the money people have paid to buy books and literature that teaches falsehoods about my church.

Don't judge all by a few! Christains are not perfect but their goal should be to be like Christ. If you want to read a book that explains the way we should be, read The Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren. We are here for a purpose and it is not about us, we are here to serve. Try to keep an open mind and find someone that represents Christainity the way it is meant to be. God Bless.

I am a fundie, as you say and I haven't seen any hate on here by fundies. Can you give me an example of this?

the only thing i see is questions attacking christianity or "believers" which I answer as many as I can. Where do you see the hate?

Here is an example of what I mean...another poster asked this question...

"Did you know...?
that- jesus tried to put m&ms in alphabetical order"

Now , who is guilty of hate?

and your "it's a case" line......well, I haven't seen any of that here. Can you give an examople of that, too?

Sadly, there are quite a few fundamentalists that act this way. Not all, but quite a few. It's because many have been taught that they are justified in their judgments because they have been "saved" (whatever that means--I thought salvation belonged to God Alone, but what do I know? It's only in Revelation).

Are you including Mother Teresa, Billy Graham, Abe Lincoln, Dr. Martin Luther King, Pat Boone, etc? If not what would you classify these people as - pushy - bad - wrong - hostile - crazy good-doers?

Yeah, the fundies are nuts. And hypocritical. It's the "dark side" of Christianity. Well, OK, that and Catholic priests who molest Children. OK, and also all of the "witch burnings." And I suppose I should include the Spanish Inquisition. And maybe the Crusades. Otherwise, Christianity teaches love and peace and acceptance. Yep.

I agree. If you are going to call yourself a Christian then you should really take some time to think about what it means to be a Christian. God loves all of us equally even the ones that don't believe in him.

in some cases they can be but i would think that is a pretty big generalization of fundamentalists. I'm catholic myself and at times we fly of the handle and can come across as holier than thou, i probably have been guilty of it myself. the best thing to do i guess is remove the speck in our eyes and then try remove the speck from theirs. one thing i have noticed is they are to busy letting the differences in faith be a bridge amongst us instead of being christian and looking at the things we hold in common.
