I need your help brothers and sisters.
I have been in exile these past 14 years and don't always keep up with the goss on BB and certain less trivial events.
When I left the shores of me fair old Blighty, we still had American nuclear missile bases on British soil.
But with the crumbling of the Berlin wall and the end of the cold war, whats happening?
Here are my three (yes you luck blighters, three!) questions... get to it and don't disappoint me (you generally don't):
(1) Are there still American nuclear weapons in Britain?
(2) If so, how many?
(3) If so, where are they pointing?
It frightens me!

Many of nuclear weapons that britain are stored in bunkers. I am sure that portsmouth, is one of the areas for britain as many of the nuclear ships dock here. I imagine the nuclear weapons on board are removed, once ships have docked. However, the weapons are likely to be pointed all at a surround 360 radius, so that they can give out a quick attack from any corner of the world.

YES, there are still US nuclear weapons in the UK.
We don't know how many, it's a secret.
We don't know where they are pointing, that's another secret.
BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID.

The US has not sent off any nuclear weapons yet, but it is using UK as a base to get to the rest of Europe, Africa and Western Asia. Or we can be used for the refuelling of planes based in US.
The UK is in a strategic position to cover much of the world.
In case of all-out nuclear war though, I suppose they would use the intercontinental ballistics based in US to deliver WMD.

I think most of the American Nuclear bases like Greenham etc are now closed or have become industrial estates. I should imagine there are still some nukes on American subs that about the place. I don't worry about it. If fate dictates I should die in nuclear fire ball then so be it. At least it will be quick. I certainly wouldn't want to survive.

There are over 100 weapons. These are programmable and can be pointed to any direction with short notice.Since the capacity of UK missile may not be substantial UK will not be able to strike without USA help. In the Nuclear and Econmic maps UK may be treated as one of the states of America.

Sorry Donna, but '(not america) is false. They can point anywhere including USA.

I dont know how many US nuclear missles are in the UK, but I can garentee, the UK nuclear power matches that of the US. basically, If usa and UK were to fire off nuclear weapons at each other, the US and UK would cease to exist!

And why would you want to know how many missiles are left in the UK that belong to the US? That is confidential info to the military, and if you were in the military then you should know better.

As for the why, well, we make a good 'aircraft carrier' for missions to Europe and the Middle East. USS Great Britain.

We also have listening bases here, like the one at Menwith hill, that would be integral to the new 'Star Wars' missile shield if they can get it up and running. Leftist propaganda suggests that the 'shield', even at optimal efficiency, would not be able to stop a warhead aimed at the UK, and who am I to argue with that?
