I'm going to cheat here (I'm only 32, not 40)
But I've always found women older than me to be attractive: maturity, wit and not worrying about trivial matters are all wonderful things about women who've experienced life.
The way you perceive life will have a bearing on others' perception of you. But I firmly believe that although men might admire the youthful attractions of younger women, the qualities of older women are what they seek in a lasting relationship.

I know you said men in their 40's, But I feel I will answer this anyway. I'm am soon to be 39 close enough I think. Personally I have always dated or had long term relationships with older ladies. Only a few exceptions from the beginning of my romantic / sexual maturity as a teen. In most cases anywhere from 10 years up to 20 yrs my senor. To this day this still holds true for the most part and still find ladies my age and older just as attractive as ever. However, the age is starting to get a bit closer to mine than in the past.

Speaking as a woman in my 50's I find your question a bit offensive in that you are asuming tha women over 40 could not be attractive or exciting. Not so!! My husband and I were married in 1999, both of us in our late 40's and he thought I was the most beautiful person in the world and I felt the same about him. Inner beauty is much more important, my man. And if the person you are with is vibrant and has a wonderful personality she will look like Jennifer Aniston to you. Don't sell us older gals short!!

From a purely visual aspect, yes, the younger girls look better. But then, I've never gone on looks alone and probably wouldn't be able to maintain a relationship with a girl much younger than myself, I think we'd bore each other eventually. So if I was single again, I would be looking for someone nearer my own age.

I'm in my fifties, but I would love to talk to you about your situation. I would like to find someone between 40-55. I am single, but look for an itelligent woman who knows how to communicate, most of the rest is irrelevant, and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder

Women get better as they age...I know its a old saying, but in this case, it's true! Of course, much depends on how well she has kept herself up. I would much rather have a woman that know what she wants and is self sufficient, then a 20 y/o that still is in search of herself and whines all the time...Good luck!

Here's the real deal: the young chick is for the fling. But you, dear forty-ish, are for the real thing, and someone out there IS looking for you.
Cheers!

Oh, yeah. It would be nice to have someone who actually remembers anything earlier than MTV. I find I have very little in common with younger women.
