And if so, wouldn't that add to welfare and things alike?

2006-08-22 11:06:10 · 15 answers · asked by Chrissy w 2 in Politics & Government Immigration

What if they came here legally and are stuck in the system waiting for renewals or permanent residency?

If those of you think we should deport them, then I can assume you wouldn't have a problem assisting with the upkeep of these children.

Tenoh: I think you are confused. It's not an anchor child if one parent is a citizen here.

Bored at work,
I beg your pardon. I have a baby by a legal hispanic and have never been on welfare and I have a friend who has a baby by an illegal and has never been on welfare.

BE CAREFUL WHO YOU CHOOSE TO JUDGE. YOU DON'T KNOW EVERYONE.

JD,
Could you explain what you mean by lazy? And in response to the one that said that the American citizen should leave their country and go live in the illegals country, who gives you the right to say that when the citizen pays taxes and this country is just as much theirs as yours?

Just for the record,
THIS IS MY COUNTRY TOO AND THERE ISN'T ONE PERSON IN THIS WORLD THAT HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL ME TO TAKE MY CITIZEN CHILDREN OUT OF THEIR COUNTRY.
AND MY HUSBAND ISN'T FROM MEXICO.

When citizen's are involved such as this... if there is no intent of fraud...used to be one of the legit ways to become a citizen temporarily till you were really 'sworn in'.

MY mom (from France) married my dad in 1946.
Was not a citizen (sworn in) till 1949 after my oldest brother was born.

It took her 3 years approximately to learn enough english to get thru the process.

Any other illegals I would say deport...but if one of the parents is a citizen, I would say give them a certain # of years to get legit.

I can't say I have a solid opinion on this, its a very complicated issue (why should where you were born determine where you can live?).
Something to think about: A lot of illegals come to the US to HAVE children so at least their children will have the opportunities they didn't, and are technically American citizens, so making an exception for children born to illegal aliens or illegal aliens having kids up here is only going to make the problem worse.

The BEST thing we can do is help Mexico improve and nullify the reasons for people to come up here.

Deport the illegal and the anchor child. Plain and simple. They shouldn't have been here in the first place. If the citizen and the illegal with the anchor baby want to be together so badly, the illegal can take the time to go through the proper channels and come here legally.

Why should I assist in the upkeep of the children? I didn't sleep with the illegal and create the child.

I'm not confused. The illegal most likely slept with the citizen to have a citizen baby and to use that baby to get through the system faster and be able to stay, hense being an anchor baby, reguardless of whether or not one parent is a citizen.

I say no they shouldn't. But then again, my opinion is really biased considering i'm a legal citizen and the father of my children isn't. Immigration already knows of him but they won't take him due to the kids. I cannot support 2 children on my own, and yes, if they did take him I will be on welfare faster then lightening to help me out. I do not have to worry as much about it though, because we have already opted to move to mexico for a few years. No my children aren't anchor babies, and no he doesn't just want me so he can be a citizen. He doesn't even want to get married for a few more years just to be sure that we can handle life together.

The children are still citizens. Would you deport all these young girls that illegals are taking advantage of and impregnating? Or did you mean that you would deport the illegal parent? Deport all illegals. I was unable to help my ex husband get his papers until I turned 18. If he had been deported before that it may have been for the best. I married him because he really gave me no choice--he said if I didn't help him get his papers he would leave me anyway. I was working and my child was in daycare--we would have managed just fine.

My children are not anchor babies. My marriage apparently was, though. But we did go through the proper chanels to get his citizenship. I even went to Mexico with him and sat on the sidewalk alone in front of the immigration building for eight hours because the armed guards wouldn't let me in. Twice. I had to fly back to the US by myself once to get some important papers so they would let him leave again. He is quite legal now and no one here should have a problem with him because of that. He works as hard now as he always did, and we were never on welfare.

Yes.

They would be on welfare either way so it would be better to lower the crime rate and deport the father

yea but I bet you both get government assistance of some type... health care, wic, etc... so how much did you have to pay the hospital when you had your child?
My wife and I struggle from week to week but we can't get any health care assistance to have a child because we "make too much"... It's because the system is drained.
Just like I was saying... You don't have insurance so you take handouts from the government. HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY TO THE HOSPITAL TO HAVE YOUR CHILD?

No, if you're referring to citizens as in American citizens who have a child with illegal aliens, then I would say definitely not! It wouldn't accomplish a damn thing at all! I doubt it would add to welfare at all, though they'd have to kick a few white people off of it who have never been eligible to receive it in the first place.

Since it would be cruel to deport the parents but not the child, the child must be deported with the parents. This is why the constitution needs to be changed to make blood, not soil rule! If your parents are not US citizens you should have no right to be a citizen, period!
