Atheists aren't haters, contrary to popular Christian belief. They just do not believe in god or Jesus. It has nothing to do with Christians.

If you're trying to make a point that you can't hate what you don't believe in, you'll need to think again. Christians are certainly actual people, and jesus might have been an actual person too, just not the son of god. Some hate one, some hate both, some hate neither. The only thing all atheists are sure to have in common is that they know god doesn't exist.

Speaking for all Atheists we don't hate anyone. Much the opposite in fact. We think the evidence of history proves conclusively that Christianity is a fraud, books have been countlessly rewritten and entire histories invented for specific political purposes: to unite scattered persons under one nation and religion.
While the science of psychology exposes the inter-workings of the mind and explains that religious experiences are nothing more than altered states of consciousness, and common to all cultures through various methods.
The science of sociology warns that a belief in life after death is dangerous to society as it lends one to not care about fixing the world, ending suffering, making the world a better place for everyone, since getting to heaven is all that matters. Some religious tenets do help the world, but as times change religion has held us back from progress we would've otherwise leaped into, and still holds us back today, simply because certain things were written in a book thousands of years ago, even if the evidence no longer supports those viewpoints. People still hold onto them for religion's sake, and this is very dangerous in this complex world.
Atheists want the same things anyone else wants, a better world for all. We think that morality precedes religion, that religion is born from a society's morals in order to preserve the status quo, not the other way around. We want morality to be able to change when new evidence is presented that a different way is more beneficial to more people, and not to be held back by an old standard, just because people mistakenly believe those laws came from God.
And we want more from you as well. We think you've given up on the world with your focus on heaven, that you're hiding from your fears, from the real world, that you ought to face and accept in all its horror and glory. We want you to free yourself from your shackles of organized religion, stop obeying just because you are afraid to not obey or it's easier to obey, and find and pursue you real passions in this life, now, because this is all we have.

Just like in any belief, there are extremist atheists who are bigoted enough to hate an entire group of people or the object of their belief. It is wrong to generalize anything about any group of believers or nonbelievers. There are Christians who hate atheism and all atheists. There are Christians who hate Islam and Muslims. There are Christians who hate Judaism and Jews. All of these can apply vice versa, of course. But the majority of Christians do not hate other religions, just like the majority of atheists do not hate religions.
Atheists simply do not believe in Jesus Christ as a spiritual leader (or any other religion). Many atheists believe that Jesus existed, and agree that both he and Christianity as a religion has profoundly impacted the world for the better.
There are many atheists who respect Jesus Christ as a positive role model, and Christianity as a positive driving force of many people in the world.
However, atheists simply cannot accept the belief that Jesus Christ ascended to heaven, because they simply cannot make themselves believe in heaven, afterlife, or any type of God.

Atheists, like myself, do not hate anyone. In fact, I have no problem with anyone who is religious (well, unless they just piss me off, religious or otherwise). The problem I have is with organized religion itself. It inhibits, prosecutes, exhibits enormous hypocrisy, and generally allows for the most corrupt, heinous people in the world to lead cultures. I believe religion is a form of control, as it is today. It definitely was not in the very beginning of religion. The teachings of Jesus (yes, I believe he is a real person, I just don't think he is the son of any God) were good in principle, but after his death his words were warped and made into a religion by those in power. They used it as a control. Spirituality and morals are completely different.
Theism is the belief in a religion, or God. An Atheist is a person who simply does not believe in religion, or God.
I also find it funny that you asked only about Christians and Jesus. It goes towards proving my point, that organized religion simply locks you into one set of beliefs and closes your mind to others. I have Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, and even Daoist friends, as well as plenty of atheist friends. I have learned from all of them, and I try never to be close minded.

Neither - they deny his existence and think Christians are wrong, that's all.
Frankly, if I lived in the US as an atheist I'd be a bit upset at the way Christianity is presumed to be the default position for everything from morality to choice of deity.
But I wouldn't hate anyone except possibly that Phelps bloke who pickets soldiers' funerals.
And he's only a christian in name.

atheists don't hate anyone
of course there may be some who are out to simply annoy people .. but those type of people can also be found in religion
they do not believe in god , plain and simple ... and although they may accept that such a person as Jesus existed would not believe him to be the son of god
but there are wonderfully , smart , loving , pleasant atheists on this board ... don't tar them all with the same brush

Most true Atheists hate no one, they hate the thingt people who claim to be Christian do.
As for the Lord Jesus Christ, they don't believe in him therefore they don't hate him.

I've known atheist and I would not say they hate anything. They just made the choice to think/believe differently. Just because they made a choice of a different path, they were still good people. I'm not one to judge and come their judgement day, I suppose they will discover what they should have done.

All of the above. They don't believe in anything. One thing they do believe, is that they will die.
And because they refuse to believe, they can not have eternal life.
If hate is the opposite of love, then it would be called hate, because they certainly don't love something or someone they don't believe in.
I hate religion myself, but I definitely believe in God, and I believe that Jesus is the Word of God. I hate religions because they have been corrupted to the point of turning so many people to say, Just forget it! I don't believe in anything. I don't believe they were born as athiests, they became that way. Born out of the confusion that man has brought to religion. I don't care how crazy man and religion gets, I will not turn away from researching to find the truth. I will not give up on God, because He didn't give up on me. It is religion, and not faith, that will be the downfall of humanity. Look at how confused the world is now. Religion has caused this, and not faith. People have plenty of faith, but some have faith in idols and mere men. Neither of which will open up the door of heaven to them. Belief in Jesus is the only way, not just throwing in the towel, and washing your hands of it all.
